Not sure if anyone is following the Ward Museum in Salisbury, MD. Looks to be moving to a new location.

Sounds like they want to move it downtown. City gov. trying to get more foot traffic down there to fuel the restaurant & craft shop business's. I,ve got a strong feeling that the move will be the death knoll of the museum in short order. Party due to parking inconvenience and the normal crowd of millennials that frequent that area aren't the museum appreciating type. Maybe, just maybe, if they can come up with a location off the Wico. River it may work but that remains to be seen. Lots of bad feeling locally about the move being needed . Price of mold remediation & HVAC replacement of existing building is the catalyst for the move.

That is my fear as well. They are only getting aid from Salisbury University for one year then off on their own. I am sure the new space will need improvements plus I read Salisbury is planning to reuse the current building as a computer lab.

Salisbury University owns the collection from what I understand.

Yes, originally the mock up of Steve & Lem Wards carving shop was located within the college buildings. Remember visiting it shortly after opening years ago. The museum isn't a money maker for sure and without generous support probably can't make it on its own.

Because two days without ac destroys buildings and art.....

My house has gone without ac for longer than than in a hot Ga summer, I didn't have mold showing up everywhere and have to sell my house.

wonder what ac the Ward brothers had back in the day, if any.

More to this...
