I was on my way out to check some water leverls after work to see what I could see. Low and behold something caught my attention. Here's my new to me duck boat. Well it will be a duck boat when I get done.

1977 Starcraft. I've haven't seen one this clean at this age. Only 3 rivets seeping.

I couldn't help myself. The price was great since the guy and his wife are on their way to retire in Florida and have no place for a boat.

As much as I could justify the cost I just could not seem to get buy in from the board. With archery season coming up in a few weeks and a new bow on it's way as well as a new ground blind and now a blind for another boat my budget wouldn't cover all my wish list items. Not complaining at all though. She puts up with a lot more than most would when it comes to my hobbies.

From what i saw in the slough yesterday you could goose hunt on the mud flat behind your house......covered in geese....

Cool huh?.....Oh now I know someone else that knows. Dang! I'd better not mention the huge bucks I've been seeing out here on the island...;-) Did your son move to the island?

Ed, I was just thinking about how much fun you will have renovating that good looking 77 boat. Very nice find.

Thanks Al. Trying to tuck my big ole' white bay boat up against an island in the deadfall just doesn't say duck hunting to me and the wife asked me please don't camo "her" fishing boat...hahaha!

Ed, that comment about your wife not wanting the fishing boat camoed reminds me of the time I painted our canoe. My very small daughter said "Dad I don't think Mom will like it". Boy was she right. 25 years later and I still hear about it. This past weekend I announced I was going to paint my 7.5 Johnson in camo and it started all over again. She didn't care about the motor but wanted to talk about the canoe again. LOL

Paul...it's funny how they remember stuff like that.

Carl...the paper work says 14'2" lg with a 63" beam. It's 29" - 30" deep at the bow. Probably something like 20" - 21" from the bottom to the gunnel. Not a bad little boat. I had a Mirrocraft just like this about 20 years ago. Funny how that boat just didn't seem to work for me then but now I'm a little older and simple is better.

Have you ever got me laughting now Ed. I think it wasmaybe a week ago when I jokingly asked if you really needed another boat. You laughed as well and said nope. And now this.....

Too funny.

Yep, that pretty darn close to the dimensions of my Smokercraft. If yours is as stable as mine, you will love it.

Forgot to mention, nice boat! now to just get started on the camo....

We just bought a used 24' pontoon and by the time I got the 'o' out in camo my wife was finished saying "no"......so much for a floating blind this year... :~)

Son didn't move at all.....duck season is coming so so I hope he likes noise at 3:30 in the morning!

If you wake to the sound of gun shots and see strange mounds out in the mud just go back to sleep.....it all secure.

cool find, I have been seeing lots of V-Bows for sale lately and Denise just tells me to KEEP DRIVING!!!!

Cant imagine why though :)

One more modified gunnel bag to put in and im READY!

hope to get a chance to hunt with you this season if the
birds ever show up and are huntable.

Mark,

I had a 24' pontoon at one time and that crossed my mind untill I figured out just how many loads of willows it takes to hide a 24' pontoon! I talked myself out of it before the wife could say NO!....hehehe

We still haven't had that cup of coffee yet. We need to get together and weed out some of these geese.

Dave,

Uncanny how the minute we turn our heads the women folk are jabbing us and giving us the look......;-0

I had to take advantage while Vickie was away on buisness.

I'm hoping this is the year and I know a couple of places you and Gordy hang out. We'll get together this year for sure.
