Waterfowling These Past Fifty Years....

by David Hagerbaumer is available from Sand Lake Press once again. When the first edition was relased it sold quickly and many, myself included, were kicking ourselves for not jumping on it soon enough. Here is your second and perhaps last chance. The below post card from Worth Mathewson provides details for obtaining a copy of this highly respected book. Worth and I spoke recently and he extended an offer, similar to the one for Old Wildfolwing Tales III, where a portion of each book sold through duckboats.net would be dontated to duckboats.net. Some of you may recall Worth posted that Mr. Hagerbaumer was once again carving decoys to help cover costs of his wife's medical expenses and I know several of you purchased decoys. In that spirit I am asking Worth to take the proceeds that would otherwise go to duckboats.net from sales generated here and see that this money helps cover medical expenses. If you want a copy of this book you will need to act fast. Worth, a hunter constantly on the move, has a 2 week window at the end of August to ship your book and then will be gone until November.

I have one of the original slip cased editions with the original pencil sketch. The book is a wonderful read, and the artwork in the book takes you there. Think about the slipcased version, the original pencil art, IMO, is worth the price in and of itself now.

Eric, Thanks for posting this up. I had talked to Worth about the reprint and was wondering if was going to happen...

Can't wait to read it!

For all of the guys out there that don’t have this book, you have got to know this book is a must have for all outdoor enthusiasts and especially duck hunters. I’ve read it countless times, and currently have two copies, one signed by David and one not. Even if you’re not a big “book” person, you will be amazed how much you and others will enjoy reading the stories. Some are short stories and others are a bit longer but all very good easy reading. Besides Haggerbaumer is a living legend and to have one of these copies and to help the site is a no brainer. Buck up guys, you want this book!
feel free to contact me if anyone has any questions.

A great book, fantastic art and Dave's stories of hunting Morro Bay years ago with my old friend Tom Tolman out on his oyster beds in the bay brought back lots of old memories for me from the 1950's & '60's when I hunted with Tom.

This is a "get one for sure" book for your waterfowling book collection.

My copy arrived yesterday evening. All I can say is WOW! I've read the first 50 or so pages and flipped thru the rest to look at the artwork. It's pretty amazing stuff. Thanks for the heads up on this!!!!!

GREAT. After reading some of the critiques, now I GOTTA HAVE IT! And because I've procrastinated, I have to wait until November when Sand Lakes Press returns from their "Hunt of a Lifetime" in Canada. Oh well. I'll consider it a Christmas present!

Doug G., I noted you are in SE MI. Whereabouts? I am from that area, now living in Eastern PA.

I got it a week or so ago and finished it the first night...Love the stories, and his pencil sketches are fantastic! Must have for any waterfowler!

Farmington Hills. Where did you live?

Lived in a little town called "Temperance", almost about as far south as you can go in Michigan. It was just north of Toledo, OH.

How do you think the duck hunting will be back home this year? Have you been out scouting yet? My former duck hunting partner is trying to get me to come back home for a hunt...

I bought a copy last week and read it completely within a day. It's a wonderful book to read! I recommend it to anyone who is interested in West Coast Waterfowling.
