Westlake Decoy Swap

I have been asked to organize the swap this year at the Westlake Show for Sunday afternoon. So, I'm asking all of you guys that plan on attending the show to bring along one of your decoys and put it in the swap. This isn't a dog show, some very nice decoys will be on the table.

Sunday 2p Please arrive at the pool with a handcarved cork, wood, or canvas decoy. RP's will be allowed! If possible, sign it before hand.

Everyone will write their name (an X is OK for the southern boys) on a slip provided and placed into the hat. I will donate the pencil.

2.15p We will draw a name from the hat, that person (their decoy will be pulled) will have their choice of anything on the table, whoever's decoy is selected will choose next, and so on down the line, the last person will receive the first persons decoy.

Please stay around the area after the swap so we can take a group shot with everyones decoys.
.............................................

This has been a great way to meet other carvers and just be social. I challenge all the carvers to come out and participate. It's always been a lot of fun. There have been some mighty fine decoys up for grabs in past years, some of them straight from the pool with ribbons 'round their necks! My first swap, (first year carver) I promised a decoy never imagining I would take a Blue in species, I believe Mr. Ganser got stuck with that one.

Send me an email and I'll start on a list.

Dear Brother Terry,
I am sorry to say that myself "X" along with my brother Ed "X" and my other brother Jon "x" will be unable to attend this years show and the swap. We have only carved -X # of decoys this year. Give me a call so we can catch up. By the way when are you coming south. I kept a seat saved for you all season.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry I'm going to miss this one. I have REALLY enjoyed West Lake the past couple of years. I am planning on mailing a couple of birds in to be laughed at in the pool. I, like Jason and Jon have not gotten the urge/had the time to carve anything since the season went out. Have a cold one in the lobby for me.

Jason:
We will miss you and your family this year, Judi was hoping to see the kids! Are you at least sending birds?

Yes, I have been remiss in not taking you up on your offer to sponsor this poor Yankee. I'll get a hold of you after the shows and we'll talk ducks and killi' em.

Ed: We won't miss you as much.....................well almost!LOL Wish you guys could make it. Saturday night will not be the same.

Terry, I know the kids will miss the pool party themselves. I do plan on sending at least one pool bird, and maybe a couple of upstairs birds as well. Give me a call.
Edward, I say we have a West Lake memorial service here at the house. We can carve, paint, catch stripers, or all of the above.
Jason

Jason, got your swap bird last year and hunted it hard all season. Really enjoyed it. Too bad you wont be there. You could still send another swap bird.

I would love to see some of them. Jason sorry that you are not coming up this year. I had a nice time talking last year. Terry I don't have anything for the swap but I'm looking forward to catching up. HHG

yes I will have a blade or two with me, I thought I was going to be able ( finally ) to have a damascus carver ready .......but sadly , still working with steel suppliers , ( shhhh, its really , really close )

I'll throw a bird in the ring. I only pity the poor sucker that gets mine.
Sorry the "Soggy Bottom" boys aren't going to make it, but I know that it, sometimes, just doesn't work out.

Ed, did you ever get my letter? I was hoping you'd call and let me know that it's all take care of, but I know you're swamped at work. Sorry for all the problems.

Terry,

If X is alright for us Southern gentlemen then I suppose Y is OK for you Carpetbaggers and Scalawags. Why yes there is a double meaning and best wishes to all ya'll.

Bless your heart and GO Tarheels,

Harry

Pshaw and shucks, I don't mean nuthin real ugly....

Harry:
I apologize to you and any other Southern gentleman that I offended. I have many carving friends South of the Mason/Dixon and take a load of crap everytime I venture into their lands. I occasionally get a odd comment in there, usually on my way out because I really don't want to go 'gator trawlin. The comment was purely in jest and not meant to denigrate your educational or regional background. I will be more sensitive to this in the future.

Terry, you little gurl! Are you SURE you are from Michigan? Don't let those sensitivity seminars at work alter your private life.Makes me sick that that Marine General is catching shit for expressing his personal feelings about gays in the military too...not saying all southerners are gay...but ya can't argue the fact that SOME are.... ;)

Hey Lee, I read about that General yesterday. What is this world coming to? You cann't express your opinion unless you it positively will not offend anyone. Sorry but you cann't please all of the people all of the time.

Somebody should thank him for standing up and speaking his mind. After all that did alot to get this country going.

No sweat Terry,

Guess after 57 years I ought to be used to it. Good thing is we all really appreciate indoor plumbing and air conditioning and I think both of those were invented by Yankees. Also, I suspect (but don't know) that Ole' Evinrude was a yankee.

Atlanta really was helped by the northern invasion. Prior to the war of northern aggression there were three whores on every corner. After the war there were only two on account of the yankee boys married one off of each corner.

One of these old days I'm gonna get real yankified and go duck hunting up nawth.

May God Bless you and hold your son in the palm of his hand,
Harry "scuse me" X

PS As to the education part, the University of North Carolina is the oldest public university in the USA. As an aside to that, the original quad of UNC is laid out like a Masonic Lodge.
