What size mud motor on a scaup?

I'm debating motor choices for my scaup and so far am leaning towards a longtail mud motor. My question would be what size should I look at to be able to push the scaup. Thanks
 
The Devlin boats take a lot of HP to get up on step, you are usually best off going with what is listed as max HP as a minimum. I'm not up on current longtail offerings, but that would be a lot of motor.
 
Donald, I have thought the same thing for my BB3 but have never tried one on it. The potential problem in my mind is how much the motor and tiller stick into the cockpit. I think one of the new hyper drives would be the ticket. If you have a dealer with a marina and you can try different motors on your boat that would be ideal. If you do, make sure and take some pics and let us know what works the best.
