What would the duckboats group do?

I purchased a 15 hp outboard as a back up at the camp house .. but not necessarily needed and I really don’t want to get rid of it for the price I paid for it..

Trying to decide if I should get a little sneak boat set up for it or get a standard issue Jon boat?

The caveat to this is in this spring I’m planning on getting a brand new pro-drive 18x54 set up to hunt bigger waters and for more stability by myself .
Currently using a 16x36 with a 23LT

You probably know what I'm going to say. If your hunting grounds lend themselves to a sneakbox, and you are okay hunting alone, or meeting up with other like minded craft, then the choice seems easy. The bigger water boat will handle a lot of situations, along with a buddy or two. Why not get a specialty boat that will scratch the itch to hunt places that you've wanted to but couldn't figure out how to approach with a big boat. Maybe the hardest part will be finding a sneakbox in the condition you are after in your budget. They are around, but a lot less common than a good ol' jon.

If it's a tossup get the sneakbox. You already have a jonboat, if nothing else change it up a little. Easy to launch and quite seaworthy for any given size. Get one with a solid cockpit cover. You can hunt out of the sneakbox without a fancy popup blind and everything but the gun stays in it between trips. Mine is ready to go at a moments notice.

I have the 17' PD setup you intend to buy. Make sure you have a spot to launch where you can dunk the trailer. The boats sit high between the wheels. That sucker is heavy and probably as difficult to load/unload as any of my 20-something center consoles.

I’d go with a sneakboat. More versatile and seaworthy than a Jon boat. And way cooler looking.
