Bill,

I got a hen and a drake GE from Marv (the two on the far right in front). I always see him at the Oshkosh show and the 3-4 times I went to St. Charles he was there. Still pretty reasonable for a wood decoy. You should contact him directly and he will make you what you want. There have been times in recent years when he was almost sold out during room to room trading before the show even opened.

where you use them, how you carry them, do you want them life sized or magnum, and how much you want to pay for them.

Hollow wood will be the lightest, (in general), and the most expensive. Cork will be cheaper and will ride better in rougher water....(again in general)...

Several good carvers on this site that carve in both mediums that sell their work and that could do birds for you, Jason Russell and Mark Vnaderhoof come first to mind and there are others as well on the site...

The carver you choose is going to be determined in large art by what you want to pay per bird....I know an EXCELLENT young carver that sells oneo fthe best birds around for $75.00 a bird. Start there and work your way up people whose birds sell for over $300.00 a pop....

WOULD YOU PLEASE SEND ME THE NAME OF THE YOUNG CARVER YOU KNOW I HUNT TIMBER ALOT AND SMALL OUT OF THE WAY PLACES I ALSO LIKE MAG DECOYS BETTER I HUNT SMALL SPREADS OF DECOYS

410-827-8933. Tell him I said hello....

Makes a really nice Mallard and he'll make them either life sized, magnum or even hollow if youu want....

Tan cork, oil paint, lag bolts the heads though the keels and then epoxies them so you never see the neck cracks that carvers who don't do that blame on picking the birds up by the heads. Epoxies the keels so they won't come off after the first season of us.

Ifyou hunt timber and can control the the abuse of handling you might talk to him about hollowing for you...I have some of his hollow birds, (cork with a 1/4" plywood bottom board and no keel just a lead pad for stability and self righting), and they are not much heavier than a plastic bird. Ue has shown that they won't stand up to the abuse that cork decoys get in a boat with mulitple hunters and dogs but if you walk in, or just carry a few bird ina boat and can be careful, you'll love his hollow stuff....the hollow birds will cost you more but not substantially so...

I talked to him last week and he told me he still had some spaces available in his schedule for additional birds.
