Where to find cheap ammo?

Well, it's that time of year again.
Need to pick up some 3 1/2" BBB shells for Spring Snows and, of course, the local sporting goods stores have dumped all their waterfowling supples and are putting out water skis, etc. So, where's the best place to pick up Fasteel or similar shells cheap?

Able Ammo has always been my favorite, I've bought all of my shells from them for the last 5 years. Mainly Estate but also a case of Rio this year. I used the Rio's (3" #3s) once and they performed well.

I too bought from Able Ammo this past year. Wanted some 16 guage steel and everywhere else the salespeople would him/haw, drag their feet, tell me shipping would be more than the cost of the shells, all kinds of crap. Called Able and the young man instantly says' "Yeh, we have some, what do you want #4 or #6 shot?" Didn't have to search inventory lists or anything, just shipped it right on. May try bismuth next year in the 16.

bill, you may try sportsman's warehouse in memfrica when your going through.if youu bypass town via 385 it is to the right at the winchester rd exit.always have a good selection.a phone call ahead of time might be in order though.

I hate to say this but I'd go to every Wal-Mart within 40 miles and start checking them. My Wal-Mart has Federal HHV's on sale for $10 right now. I heard that Meijer in South Bend had 3.5 inch HHV BB's for 8 bucks! I love when they screw up!!!!

Kevin, I have used Bismuth in my 16 ga mod12 since it was approved, I think 10 years. It works really well and i didn't have to retire my Grandfather's gun. He bought it in 1937 so it's not gonna eat steel real well.

I've been thinking the same as that lately. While I have no problem with stell in my 12 g. it just didn't perform as I hoped in the 16g. Sometimes it would stone a 30+ yard bird, sometimes a 20 yarder would take it and still go. Since bismuth is so near lead in performance that may be the ticket for some hunts next season. May even use on turkeys come April.
It sure is fun getting those old heirlooms out and doing what they were meant to do.

Kevin, I think you will like bismuth. It really does shoot like lead and with what my local sporting goods tells me, Hevi shoot is gonna go throught he roof next year. the Winchester Supreme elite already has. Went from 27 dollars a box (10) to 40 a box.
