Who doesn't love a fully plumed duck?

Thomas shot the below Gadwall yesterday while I was sitting tender in the boat nearby. Our partner, Nic, who was with Thomas at the time took the picture with his phone and texted it to me right after they got the bird off the shallow flat they were hunting. They knew it was a fine specimen. We see a lot of Gadwall but the really well plumed ones also seem to be the wiser ones, hard to decoy.

That's a mounter right there! Very Cool!
Not much compares to the subtle beauty of a full plumage drake gadwall.

We didn't get out, fog, south wind, heat and high water made it not worth the effort.

I shot a real corker of a gadwall a few years back and didn't mount it...always wished I had. Like you I shoot plenty of them but this particular one was just awesome. Nice bird, hopefully headed for the wall!

I got one like that yesterday also. Gadwalls are around here in NJ but I typically only get one every few years. A drake gaddy is a handsome bird and I admired it a couple of times before I cleaned it.

Great stud gaddy this was my Christmas present last year
