WI-MN-IA Boatbuilders Gathering

This summer's upper midwest boat builders' gathering will take place June 30 in Onalaska, Wisconsin. It will coincide with the Brice Prairie Canoe Race and Pig Roast. Details about that event can be found at http://www.briceprairiecanoerace.org/

Brice Prairie (Onalaska) is located just north of La Crosse on Pool 7 of the Mississippi River.

Last year we had 7 or 8 guys from this site bring their boats and a couple of local boat builders.

As we get closer to the event I will post some more details--about the time and place we should meet, how much beer to bring if you want a primo spot to display your boat, etc.

Just reply to this post if you are interested in attending this year.

Rick

Hi Rick, I am definetly thinking of attending, of course I asid that last year too! Anyway, I couldn't get the link to work. All that comes up is

Andy,

It's odd that you can't get the website to come up--but there isn't all that much information on it anyway. They haven't posted our boatbuilders' gathering info on it yet--just info about the canoe race, bike ride, pig roast, etc. I'll be sending out detailed directions as we get closer to the date.

I hope you can join us.

Rick

Rick,

I just put it on the calender so barring anything unforseen, I'll be there. The link came up fine for me.

Pete

some equipment to a new customer there and haven't met him yet....

I'll give him a shout and see if he's going to be around at that time and if he is then I'll work on scheduling it at that time....

I'll keep you posted...

Steve

I said I would come last year and didn't make it. Hope to this year, now that the Quacker Whacker Stacker is finished.

Just an idea, but we should all have/get logo stickers on our boats/vehicles

Andrew

Hi Rick,

It looks like I won't be able to make it up that weekend. I've got tentative plans to be in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I'll keep you in mind if my plans change.

Thanks,

Jason Roetz

Rick, I'll pencil it in for now. Maybe I can finish those decoys before then, hehe, just need paint now.

Andy, It's now wonder you were "forbidden", anybody with a fancy avatar like yours, is too dangerous around a computer. Most of us mere mortals can barely manage our bookmarks!

Well, it looks like we should have enough guys to make it worthwhile. I'll post a new announcement here in a few weeks to remind everyone.

Huntindave--I'll give you a choice. You can either bring your decoys freshly painted--or we'll put you in charge of leading an Avatar training workshop.

Tom--Will you plan to bring your Poleboat?

Also, remember to let all your family members know: there can be no weddings, baptisms, or other ritual celebrations of any kind on June 30.

Rick

Dave, just for you, if you would like, I can make you a fancy avatar too, of any three or four pictures of your choice. Also, that website didn't work for me at my place of employment, it worked fine from home later - so apparently my employer is the FORBIDDEN one! LOL I am adding the date to my calendar, and I sure hope I get to see Rick's boat, Daves decoys, and Tom's mess!

Rick,

We had a good time last year. I put it on the calendar. We're planning on coming up again.

Ed L.

Sounds great Ed.

Are you gonna bring the shaggin wagon again and camp at Goose Island?

I was hoping to have the houseboat done in time for this event so someone could stay in it, but I haven't done a thing on it yet this spring--and now the house needs painting. So, the Uppermiss Floating Fishing & Ducking Accomodation (UFF-DA) will probably still be up on blocks by the end of June.

Rick

That is about an 8+ hour drive from Grand Rapids, MI..... But only 4+ hrs. from the In-laws' in Chicago....

Nonetheless I'm trying to sort out the logistics of attending for a few hours....

Put me down as a possible maybe.... ;-)

Brian F.

That would be great if you could join us.

Can you take the ferry across Lake Michigan? I heard that will cut a couple of hours off the trip.
