Pete:
You being a computer guru I have a question. Daily on my email page I get 20 to 25 messages like this---mail delivery subsyst ret'd mail response error etc. etc... I've contacted my isp and they say "not much they can do" just delete it or change your email address. Any suggestions you might have? I really don't want to change my email address. Thanks!

Wis,

I know you asked Pete but thought I might chime is as this is my field of work as well. Without seeing the full message it's a bit hard to determine exactly what your issue may be. One thought jumps to my mind. If your receiving 20-25 NDR's (Non delivery reports) from your ISP with failed attempts to deliver email, you potentially have a virus which is using your address book in an attempt to proliferate itself. Without seeing the entire error this is just an assumption. If you can, copy and paste your entire NDR and that would give Pete and I a better idea of what the problem may be.

Ryan:
I was advised not to open any of them--here's one of the latest: "The Post Office returned mail see the transcript(failed 1)" then the time and date.
Another one ".today---mailer--daemon@we failure notice "plus a date and time.
I've received over 30 today alone--a couple in Spanish?

Wis,

Sure smells virus related. You're either on the receiving end, which would explain why your ISP recommended you change your email address, or it's with your pc. Not sure who your ISP is but most give you the option of having several SMTP (email) address's (i.e., wisboz@abc.com, wis@abc.com, etc). You might want to try creating another email address to see if this happens when using that one. If it does it's likely your pc. If not then your other email address is getting hammered.

Thanks Ryan--I'm scheduled for some surgery early this coming monday with some preop work this friday so will have to hold off changing my email address for now. Appreciate your help.
