Hunting show dog Rocco has cancer
After a lifetime spent promoting outdoor fun in Wisconsin, Rocco soon will swim his last pond and retrieve his final hunting trophy.
The canine half of the Bob and Rocco due-known throughout the state for gun shows and hunting expeditions--has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The 11-year old black Lab Retriever is not expected to live more than a couple of weeks.
"This is a day-by-day thing," said Bob Pucci, whose favorite hunting companion is also a beloved mascot at some 25 shows a year in Milwaukee, Waukesha and elsewhere.
Pucci broke the news about Rocco's failing health last month to customers at the Waukesha County Exposition Center.
"It's just so sad," said John Rinehart, a longtime Bob and Rocco patron. "He almost runs the shows."
Pucci, 59, plans to return to the show circuit after Rocco is gone. For now, however, the Janesvill based business owner is concerned only with taking his longtime partner on a final tour of Rocco's favorite swimming holes.
"It's hard to have a dog and not miss him," Pucci said. "He's brough a lot of joy to a lot of people...

Bob is a HUGE promoter of the take a kid hunting foundation. Giving free guided hunts in the Horicon Marsh area every year. He is a great embassador to our waterfowling sport and firearm shows.. Two not see these two side by side is going to hurt.... Rocco is/was a great friend and retriever to many. God Speed my friend..
