a find from today's wandering

the image is on a piece of slate about 12 by 8 nailed to a rough cut board, unfortunately its not signed

there is a unusual shop over in Wayne County NY we stop at once and a while- some antiques - lots of re purposed stuff made into household items - workbenches into kitchen islands and such

but he always has some outdoors related stuff as decorator, old fishing items, some decoys once and a while (got a like new Victor trap type mallard there a while back just to have an example of the type)- he always has some taxidermy

just a interesting place to poke around in

Rick - Very good find. The quality and quantity of artists in western NY always impresses me. What I have found is that some works of the older, and deceased artists and carvers are unsigned. They loved and enjoyed what they did, but were humble when it came to signing their work.
 
It's a beautiful piece. I wonder if it's marked on back of slate.

had not thought of that- but with the way is is attached, i will leave it on the board rather than risk cracking the slate
