Wood kiln

I am wanting to make a wood kiln so I could start drying some wood faster and to get rid of the possibility of bugs in the wood.

Has anyone here made one before and would you mind sharing some plans and ideas.
Thanks.

Ben try contacting member here Tom MODIN. I believe several years ago he made a wood kiln using light bulbs as his heat source. He posted up a step by step as he did it......I think ? I tried searching for it but didn?t have any luck. Might be under ?what?s on your bench?. Anyway pretty sure he researched it and built something. Sorry I can?t get you any closer than that.

Ben,
I did one years ago with a humidifier to remove the moisture and lights for heat. It worked really well. Eventually I took it apart as it took up to much room.

what size wood are you talking about? Only small blocks to make decoys with? If so, you can use what some woodturners use, and old dishwasher with a light bulb for a heat source. Its insulated and has racks where you can put the blanks

I'm planning on using for variety of stuff. Carving blocks, longer pieces for making bows, cypress knees, probably will do some slabs for plaques and furniture.

Thanks for the ideas and leads, I was thinking about space and where I could make one as I was reading through the responses and then it clicked that I have a cinder block pump house behind the house that is not used and with some insulation it would be great for converting into a kiln. And it will be bigger than any wood framed version I could make.

Will have to buy some supplies soon and start making it
