    My new dog

It was awesome meeting ZuZu last week, kids gave her a thumbs up (Ryder -the littlest one wanted to bring her in the motorhome with us to Glacier) and she is pretty sharp looking hound. My kids think you live in small Cableas - they loved the place. D-

    Kayak plans

Bear Mountain boat shop sells a variety of plans from various designers. I like the versatile Endeavor plan myself - good for flat/rough water conditions, sea and whatever else you could find to float it in. Its an easy plan to build and has a great step by step manual.

    My new (metal) Boat Project...

Mark - think about an MDO floor with rhino liner-like covering to encapsulate. the MDO does not flex as much as other ply. It tends to be a bit cheaper as well. D

Something of an update and more importantly a question

Screen it! Scoop up the mess and wash the scoops (dirt and glass mess) through a screen. 1/4 square poultry wire on a frame should work to get the worse offenders. Once you have it screened - pour some new base on top. Or.. pick it up the best you can and backfill with road base (compact it) and...

    22 long rifle ammo

We may all need to start seeking some therapy on this. Plinking with a .22 will be a fond memory we can tell our kids about. I can't believe I am considering .223/556 and 9mm as alternatives for practice. Good thoughts on .17 and pellets - but just not the same zip as .22 my kids have a new...

    Pole Barn Construction

Fred Slyfield - come on and dont be shy -post pics of your shop - AKA the Washington Disneyland Parking garage. That thing is HUGE. I remember seeing no less than a 30 ft trailer, 2 20 foot boats, a bunch of quads , meat locker, work areas and my fat arse all fit in there. Derek

    Repainting an Aluminum Jon

I found Gluvit to be a decent base for my Parker painted jonboat. The key to it working was to put a light scuff with a scothbrite after the 2nd coat and a flat clear coat on top of the Parkers. Parkers as a tendency to chalk out and will attract mud/stains like a diaper on a toddler. The clear...

    Painting a aluminum boat

John- I have had pretty good success with using Gluvit as a primer (I tinted it darker to match the topcoat) and then used a couple of coats of Parkers. I sealed the Parkers with automotive clear coat (flat) and it held up very well. This is a cheap route to go.
