Bankes Goliath

Hi All,

We live in the Finger Lakes in Upstate New York. I have been looking to upgrade my layout tender and with my son turning 12 this year, I thought it might be easier to introduce him to open water hunting from a boat blind. After losing out on a local boat, I was able to buy a nice Bankes Goliath on Long Island. Oddly, the original owner was not a hunter, so did not have a blind, dog ladder or any electronics on the boat. I have reached out to both Bankes / Rock Solid Fabricators and DockSea Point (their New York distributor) to order a blind, but they have not responded.

Does anyone have suggestions for a blind that will work on the Goliath?

Also, if you have recommendations for the electronics and a dog ladder, I would be appreciative. I had a small Lowrance unit on my previous boat, but should probably upgrade for this one.

Thanks,
Pete

Just a thought on the dog ladder. I have mine attached to the transom, it is aluminum and hinged and simply lifts up onto the boat when not used. By being hinged, it also lets you grab it if you ever fall out and are alone, unlike a portable one that simply hangs over the side and needs to be set up. I would think most boat canvas shops would be able to set up blind for you, although material may be different. Have fun with your son.

Pete I follow Jayden Banks on TikTok. I see guys asking him lots of questions on his post/videos. You might go there and ask him about the blinds.

Netman,

Thanks for your note. I did finally get a response from the Bankes distributor on Long Island. They are trying to determine how to ship to the USA from Canada. Fingers crossed.

That said, I did also check out Jayden Bankes' presence on social media. It looks loke he has a good gig!

Troy,

That is a slick setup (cool pictures also). I searched a bit yesterday looking for the dog ladder, but didn't find a similar ladder. Do you know the model or brand?

Hi Pete, Here are some pictures of mine, as well as a couple others I found online. Mine are the first four pictures, then some I found for a Lund and lastly some for a Bankes. The one on the Bankes could easily be made to pivot on those pins and just tilt up as mine does. It works really well being off the back as opposed to the side like some others have. Good luck, if you want measurements, just reach out. I had mine fabricated here in town by a local welder/friend of the family.
