The Next Project...Spring 2026 Bankes Chesapeake 16'

New project for the summer is this 1998 Bankes 16' Chesapeake. I've heard great things in terms of performance of this boat. My plan is to rig with a 30hp Yamaha 2-Stroke with JackPlate. Re-spray hull, custom cockpit / blind canvas etc.. Question is who's got one of these and what are your setup options? This would be a year-round simple bay boat for summer home on the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. Interested in blind, power & any mods feedback options out there thanks!

That would be a surprise. Likely the draft with the motor. A practical assessment of the water required, not typical of boat manufacturers.

Seriously doubt that hull sits 12" in water. My guess is probably 4 to 6".

Based upon what a buddy of mine advised who has one this boat easily navigates in 4" water just fine. Here's a few additional shots of setup and examples really looking forward to this project nice year-round platform ideal for back bay fluke fishing & quick morning hunts
