I finished a call from a customer supplied blank, a nice piece of dyed box elder burl, and folded a 60th Anniversary Ducks Unlimited Raffle Coin to make the band. African Blackwood Caps. Aluminum Inlays. Oil finish.

This was the last build of the month. African Blackwood with Copper Inlays. The copper half dollar coin that I folded into a band, with my custom patina, and a CA finish.

Any chance the metal bands can be colored/stained? Wondering if theres something down the road in a wood call with a purple band. Dont get me thinking.... lol.

Yes, indeed. It was the man himself, Seth Fields. I’ve got a surprise for ya. I had some of my double ditch bands anodized, and did purple For the coins, not sure, never explored it. I’m finishing up a Crazy Fiber Micarta call today that will have a Purple Double Ditch band. We are gonna need an August workbench thread!

Sounds like youre the man to start the August workbench thread. I will be following along closely. Thats damn cool he got ahold of one of your calls and put up a vid of it. Hes the man on a duck call. Sounds dirty too! Theres a reason one hangs on my lanyard.

Wonder if I could find a purple coin and send it to you and get on the waitlist. As you know, im not hurting for it by this season. I might start looking for something. Be kinda neat to have a wood call, maybe a purple end piece on each end and then the purple coin band that you make so custom. Could be too pretty to hunt.... But I couldnt let such a great piece go to waste.

Hoping to have some finished pieces this weekend to post into an august work bench on the carvers corner. I am working on a couple other custom stuff that I hope to get in the pipeline soonish. Hope by mid to late august I have the custom stuff done and posted.

I’ve seen purple aluminum Mardi Gras coins but aluminum is too soft, it will split when I fold it. I’m going to turn a purple dyed wood burl call this month, it will be in the August workbench thread.
