    Wood for decoys

If you have a vice you can take a scrap piece of wood, drill 2 holes in it then use 2 lag bolts to screw it to the bottom of the decoy block. That will let you hold the block in your vice and work on it with a draw knife, rasp etc. When your done just cut 2 plugs and glue them in the lag bolt holes.

Best I can recall I ended up here as the result of a Google search of some sort on carving decoys. I was aware of the site long before I ever joined.

Supposedly that auction grossed over $10 million. The first 2 decoys went for over a million. A Joe Lincoln wood duck for $1,200,000 and an Elmer Crowell wigeon for $1,080,000.

    Black cork question…

I don't see why it wouldn't glue together fine. I like to use gorilla glue on my cork birds because it expands into all those voids.

    Branding design on Decoys

    buffleheads

It doesn't show well in the picture and is fairly subtle in hand too but there is some green and crimson highlights on the heads of mine as well. I try not to go too overboard with stuff like that as to not make them too gaudy but I think it helps give the decoy a little pop where it would've...
