    What's the toughest knee boot?

Lacrosse burly. I have an 18 year old pair that are still used every season. No leaks. Great boot! I see a pair of Lacrosse hip waders in my future of teal season.

    Carving Books

I'll second that recommendation. He adds just the right amount of instruction, history, and waterfowling heritage to his book. I really enjoyed it.

Decoy rigging for that old school look...

They are solid cork bodies, basswood heads, with a keel. They are painted with acrylics and I will probably do a wash over them to give them a patina look. They however will not have a distressed look. Does that help some Steve? Thanks for your response. Steve, I love the look of...

Decoy rigging for that old school look...

I was curious how some of the carvers on here like Pat Gregory and others rigged their carved decoys? Curious what type of line, swivels, clips, and weights you used. Any pictures of a few examples? I am finishing up a few Ringnecks and I am thinking of how I want to rig them for a more...

    Maurilio pintail whistle...

Thank you for some of the replies guys. Yep Bob that is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks for the link. I saw that too, but unfortunately they are sold out and have been for months. I currently use a Haydel's whistle and it works great, but when the pintails are reluctant (and they...

    Maurilio pintail whistle...

Anyone hunt with the Maurilio pintail whistle? It's a small whistle with a roller ball inside and what looks like 3 ports for the air to exit. One on the end and two on either side. You can find the plastic knock off ones lots of places. Primos makes a roller ball one and there is another...

bottom boards - yes or no

I don't think bottom boards are necessary with Duck Blind cork. I have done it both ways. They get heavy with bottom boards so I have started to do it without. I think they will hold up fine either way.

    Dog beds, crate cushions?

Primopads.com. That is one serious crate pad and you can strap it down to a wire kennel to keep them from pulling it up to chew on. We have had one 3.5 years and it is still good as new.

    Griffon's first season….

Beautiful dog you have there Jon. My prior dog was a Chessie and he was a blast to hunt with too. The looks I get though when my Griff comes out of the kennel are always interesting.

    Griffon's first season….

I haven't had her on a true upland hunt yet. So far just planted birds for training and she did really well on her NAVHDA NA test and picked up a perfect score her first time out at 6 months. She is super, super birdy. I have three young kids so my opportunities to get out in the field...

    Griffon's first season….

Al, it didn't really change her game up as much as it made her jump around trying to figure out how to bring it in. It was pretty funny as she noticed the size difference and was trying to figure out how to swim back with it. She didn't seem to want to mouth the body so she was looking at the...

    Griffon's first season….

I have been lurking awhile so I figure I better get active again. This is my Griffon's first season and she did real well. She was well mannered in the blind with no whining or barking. She just needs more and more birds shot over her and she will become a good bird dog. She is starting to...
