What new waders are you guys using?

Me too. I have a heavy 5mm pair and a light 3mm pair for early season. I never wear more than one pair of socks and long underwear. Bulky but very warm. I stepped on two spikes in a piece of lumber the other day. It felt like they penetrated but I didn't feel a leak. Hope they last another year...

    Shell Drake “Redbreasted Mergansers”

The drakes are a pretty bird. If they tasted good, they'd be extinct. :)

    All Things Flocking

I'll have to try your method for the heads. I did mine green, then airbrushed a little black on the top and back. I'm pleased with how they look, but it's always fun to experiment.

    Shell Drake “Redbreasted Mergansers”

I'll be curious to hear if you could swallow it. Don't believe I ever ate a fishcrate.

    Drones

No doubt. The question in that situation is, if they can spy on you, can they prevent you from spying back?

Who Hunts With A Black Powder Shotgun?

With black powder, we always used an over powder felt wad. If a shot cup is used, it sits on the felt wads. There is no reason to use a complete plastic wad with a sealing base. Bismuth might be soft on the barrel, but BP velocities tend to be low compared to smokeless. Less velocity with low...

Hunting from fishing boat without a blind

The sea ducks, when not pressured, will probably come to that boat. You mention Maine, we hunt there. Some locales are hit hard, especially by guides, others see almost no pressure. The birds are accustomed to seeing the lobster boats, as they are out year round. Sea ducks are a totally...

Hunting from fishing boat without a blind

Scoters, Old Squaw and Eiders are quite willing to decoy to an open boat, provided they aren't pressured too much. Bluebill/broadbill on the other hand tend to be more boat shy. I've never had much luck with them out of an open boat without a blind, and preferably set against a rocky shore...

    Primitive Weapon Duck Hunting

Other than possible safety concerns (rifles being shot at ducks on the water) few if any of the Federal firearm prohibitions make sense in today's world with 6 duck limits. I'm on board with no traps, snares, nets, poison, drugs, explosives etc.. States taking the prohibited list a step further...

    December Workbench

I share the sentiment. I'll rephrase to say, our biggest fault is that we can't make them live forever.

I'm gonna suggest he's not the trap tripper. He's the eater of the trap tripper. They steal animals from traps if they can. What species of rabbit is that? Pretty plump compared to jackrabbits I've seen.

that really is good Jode. Dogs are the best part of waterfowling IMO.

I thought the same but then your stuck with tunnels full of concrete like the border with Mexico. Unfortunately giving them the gas pipe every once in a while is probably the best long term solution. I'm gonna shoot me a pile of ducks this afternoon. At least that's my plan. No nuisance holes...

Look at the bright side. You're approaching the problem with a bit of curiosity, at least you might learn something and be entertained by the vermin. Many have become obsessed with exterminating them and have failed miserably, there's no satisfaction in that. Although a couple boxes of 22-250...

While I did have a giggle, I'd seriously like to see what the varmints underground maze looks like. They are interesting little critters, when they don't dig up your pasture. Pics would be nice, but if you happen to bag a chupy, check for a band. I hear they have a program out there somewhere...
