More gold! A great "type specimen" of a Pond Box - as distinct from a Gunning Coffin/Meadow Box. And, if it were 11- or 12-foot LOA it would be the sort of garvey-based duckboat I was describing.

Harry Megargee was a friend of Zack Taylor. Zack describes how Harry reluctantly opened up his Sneakbox - off-season and in foul weather - to take off some measurements for Zack's needs - maybe a Boatbuilding Annual.

All the best!

The more I uncover of Harry Megargee the more that guy's work impresses me. I always liked his sneakbox in Field and Stream and he has shown to have a lot more breadth and depth than that design. I bet he took care of a lot of duck hunter's needs that knew a little woodworking and were willing to try.

I have found 4 designs of Harry Megargee, Scaup, Widgeon, Duckling and Whistler. I don't know if he did any others.

He is also a respected painter as well.

Great little pond box...I feel like I'm not picking up on the plans well enough to interpret, or something is missing, but I would love to build this box...seems like it would be handy for a lot of places, and probably towable for some of the river/sandbar type shooting I do.

Great low profile for rice fields
