Setting up a sneakbox

I looked at G-flex, but I ended up just screwing them down. I got these of someone who has a dog sled team and uses them for runners. It's not east to source here -- I have puck boar on me trailer bunks for my big boat - I'd rather have UMHW.
 
Here is the Dodger on my AA Broadbill. I can sit and see over it or stand and hold onto the top bow. I used thick wall stainless tubing on the bows and locking canvas snaps for stability. The "beaver hut" back has simple snaps if I want to row and I have a movable back support bar with an Avery Layout blind seat. Great set up when the weather is nautical, the first bow is the spray shield.

Scott, did you end liking the UHMW? I am at a bottom repaint on one of my boats and considering it? IMG_5555.jpg

John, I used UHMW wear strips on my Kara Hummer. This is the third year and no problems yet. My biggest concern was the huge temperature swings in MN. In the winter at times -30 F and summer temps can reach 100 F. No separation, buckling or cracking. Would recommend G-Flex for bonding.

I am torn on the UHMW application standing on the auspice of getting away from the lineage of the boat. But then again the epoxy, resins, LED lighting, etc. left that in the dust years ago. I love my wood boats for the history of platform and feel the more I modernize them the more my grandfather rolls over in his grave.

I just helped a friend do the final sanding on a Snow Goose last weekend and he used solid brass stock for the runners; seemed very cool.
