Wooden Duck Boat Convention?

Hello
I am somewhat new to this board. I have been lurking for years but I finally reached the proverbial "first step": Everyone, I have a duck boat problem! I just purchased my third wood marsh boat, not counting the aluminum fleet...

Question: Is there a convention of some sorts for people like me that have such an addiction? I have seen several photos of some sort of rendezvous on the east coast where people get together and talk and show off their works of art (boats). Though I live on the left coast I would not mind making a vacation to east coast....

We have had some local get-togethers New Jersey here over the years.

Nothing terribly formal but just usually some meet ups, to go out and do some fishing maybe grab lunch etc.

Many of the boats are wood but some are handmade fiberglass, modified johnboat etc.

We haven't done one in a few years.

The last one we had plans got canceled because of a tornado that came through and tore up the rendezvous point Down by Tuckahoe New Jersey.

If you're really into wooden duck boots a trip to the Tuckerton Decoy Show at the end of September would probably be enjoyable. It's always the last weekend of the month. And it is a good time of year weatherwise. Plus there's lots of shopping for significant others if they choose

John,

If you should come east. Get Thee to the Wooden Boat Museum, Clayton, NY. You shall not be disappointed. It is ever evolving with projects and displays and the surrounding area is dripping with history of all kinds. At least check out the website.

Best regards
Vince

The Traditional Small Craft Association messabouts will have wooden boats not necessarily duck boats per se. Melonseeds, Delaware Duckers and type are usually around but not setup for duck hunting. Largest gathering is at Chesapeake Maritime Museum in October and they do have a waterfowl display and a few boats on display as well.

Hey John,
As a duck boat addict myself I can gladly point you in the right direction. Here in the northeast there's a few different shows the first being Tuckerton, NJ in September, then a local Long Island show to me hosted by the SSWA (South Shore Waterfowlers Assoc) in October where a duck boat contest is held right on the beach followed by Easton Waterfowl show in Easton Maryland then lastly a show I run here on Long Island, NY in March by The Long Island Decoy Collectors Assoc. This March will be our 3rd annual Duck Boat Exhibition and we see many new faces each year along with new crafts. I invite you to check out any of them! If you'd like any additional info just let me know, right now our March 2026 event will be Saturday March 7, 2026.

Here's a few pics....
