September goose season

Well that’s a wrap! We harvested 303 geese during the 25 day season here in New York. We were fortunate enough to harvest two banded geese as well, one from Rye New York and mine was from New Church Virginia, pretty cool. This season was particularly special to me because it was the first time my father was able to hunt after being diagnosed with Lymes disease which then turned into vasculitis. He has fought endlessly to get back in the game. We didn’t know if he was going to be able to walk again and now he’s back in the blind. Truly a remarkable recovery that hopefully will continue to make progress.

Wyatt,
Good Lord that's alot of goose! Sorry to hear about your father. Vasculitis is a real bitch and I know this because I have it in my lungs. Have your dad inquire about infusions the next time he sees his doctor. My wife and doctors fought with insurance just to try this new therapy and now, thanks to them, I am in remission. RM

Wyatt, that is awesome that your old man was able to join you in the blind. Great to hear he fought back!! Looks like you guys had some great hunts.

We weren't able to hunt as much as usual this month. We have only got 5 hunts in so far, but they've been some good ones. We have shot 211. Hoping to squeeze one more hunt in if we are lucky. We shot 514 last September and I don't know if we will ever top that.

He did infusions in the hospital now he just has to take medication. The toughest issue he has right now is the lack of feeling in his feet which throws his balance off.

That’s a big rig man and great pics. Yeah him being able to get after it was such an accomplishment in his recovery. We got 9 hunts in this year 4 local and 5 up north at my buddy’s camp for the last week of the season. Very fortunate and thankful for every one of them. Didn’t hunt today due to the weather the rain definitely kept the birds from getting up on Tuesday at least that’s how it was where we were but we scratched out 17 with 4 guys we usually don’t hunt more than that sometimes 5-6 guys
