When I was a youngster, We'd dress up at school for Halloween.
One Halloween night, I was about 12, and I came home with a Golden Retriever that we'd met while out punting around.
That golden retriever met me nearly every day on the way home from school until he got too old to be out and about anymore.
He'd stay and play with me.
We'd go walk in the orchards and fields that used to be all around the valley and go on adventures.
About dark, we'd have dinner and his real owner would stop out front and honk the horn of his truck.
The dog would go and jump in the back, and they'd head home until the next day.
That dog changed my life forever.
