A sneakbox i wish i could still have

The one sneakbox I wish I could have restored but only owned it for 45 minutes this was a 1940 Cleve Dabbler 12ft sneakbox from cape may county. Cleve built a beautiful boat with a rounded cockpit. I bought it in grassy sound in north wildwood for $150 loaded it on the trailer and took rt9 to cape may courthouse. I stopped at the wawa in courthouse as I’m walking out a guy said is that your Cleve sneakbox I said yea he said I’ll pay double what you bought it for I said sold and I drove it to his house in courthouse. If anyone knows where one is let me know I’d love to own one!

They are nice boats. I had an original unglassed one that I owned for a couple months.

It ended up going to Cleaves old neighbor.

He was in his 70s now, but he grew up hunting and fishing with Cleve and when he wanted it, I felt it was the best place for the boat to go

I think I sold it to Roy Lucadema's daughter's boyfriend or something. They were supposed to be working on some type of Cleve Daebler documentary or biography of some sort. Not sure what ever came about with it. He may have been in CMCH as well. Wonder if it was the same guy.

Richard, some cape may boxs were longer. The one i owned was 13ft. I don’t know what Jode was.

Tom i bought mine from a older gentleman his house was in grassy sound it was a old beach shack he said he bought it in 65 from a guy in Scotch Bonnet Marina but the registration was listed 1940. It was a beautiful boat i bought it in 2013
