12 slot decoy bag for magnums and long lines

I want to try to use a 12 slot bad for my decoys while keeping them on the long line.

I have bags now. The slot walls do not attach at the bottom and lines and the weights work trough the bottom into neighboring slot causing issues. The other bags that I have that are attached are not big enough for the magnum herters decoys.

Anyone recommend a bag for big decoys that are fully enclosed slots at the bottoms?

Note I tried the lawn leaf bag trick. It hurts my soul to listen to my hand (re)painted decoys rubbing against each other trading paint.

Perfect thank you.

A question on slot size...my first two bags I purchased from Diane were life-size with 6x6 slots. Fits every decoy I own including the battleship size ringneck decoys but it is a snug fit with decoys protruding above top of bag. I guess my question is whether a larger size Diane bag with 7x7" slots would still be free standing with all the additional room?
My second question is on long lines. I primarily hunt dabblers but I thought a long line with a few singles thrown off to either side would simplify decoy retrieval. Is it easier to keep the line separate or clipped to the decoys? I am guessing that the function of the zippered lid is to help manage long lines? RM20251228_113157.jpg

The lines go into the bag along with the clips.

A picture with the barrel method which honestly works great if you don’t mind your decoys trading paint, which I do mind. Probably ideal for plastic decoys. The second is them in a commercially made bag with 7”slots. Slots are just a tad bit too tight for these old decoys, and the bag sags in on itself making it tough to load the line in. There is 120’ of line with 25’ ends in each bag. In both cases clip on your weight and start chucking them one at a time as the boat drifts.

She used to make a 12 slot bags that could hold Canada's. I know because I had 4 of those bags and used them for G&H Super Mag duck decoys which are 22" long. Why don't you give her a call and see if she can whip up a couple for you. She is after all "custom decoy bags by Diane". P.S. I kept my G&H on 120' long lines all stored in the bag with the decoys.

Her web site should list bag pocket & height dimensions. If I recall correctly magnum duck size was 17"or 18" tall with 7" x 7" pockets. She makes Goose bags with pockets big enough an extra large goose decoy like a big foot floater easily slips in and of course they also can be had with lids. There use to be a tutorial on line maybe by Pit Boss showing right procedure to store decoys with long line & window weight attached. Pretty slick as he sets them about every day of season for sea duck party's . His method created no tangles.

Are zippered lids a good idea or do they get in the way? RM

I like them simply for keeping frost off decoys when left in boat over nite. And keeps my labs muddy feet off them to! Great for storage in my opinion but really depends on how you use bags. They don,t really get in way of anything as lids simply fold down to sides during placement & retrieval.

This what I have, at least 20 years old and like new still

John Bourbon had Diane make him gunnel bags that he uses for "short" long lines of puddlers She added a weight pocket on both ends. I am sure you could have her make them anyway you want them. She made me 3x3s and 3x4s and added them to her catalog. Dave Clark could also make you whatever you can dream up too.

Dave,
I like the idea of gunnel bags for decoys after seeing them on Diane's website. Definitely worthy of consideration. RM
