Need a good solution

blind3.jpegI buily a blind very similar to the Beavertail clamshell blind that goes on their Stealth 1200 and 2000. I then mounted this to my 12' Lund Ducker. Blind does all I want it to do but I need to make a major improvement.

As mentioned, this is a clamshell blind that comes together in the middle of the boat. It fully encloses me and has mesh windows on all sides and the top. Nice thing about being enclosed is being able to heat the inside during the cold morning hunts.

Anyway. I need a simple, bullet proof and easy way to seperate the two halves of the clamshell to drop the blind before shooting. I am able to pop out the top if I choose but prefer to drop the clamshell.. I need a way to keep the two halfs together whiule the blind is in the up position. I have tried - Velcro, straps, neodymium magnets and a couple of ideas that weren't close to working. The magnets on the top cross bar work OK but if in a stonrg wind they tend to come a part on their own. Velcro really didn't work as it was never 100% full proof on releasing and they were noisy. Straps worked OK. The straps had those kind of clips one finds on life jackets. Pinch one side and it releases.

Here are some pics of what I am talking about. Right not I have the magnets installed. They are on the top cross bar. Other pics show the sides and then the blind up and then down. Hiopefully the picsand issue are explained clear enough. If not, ask away. And yeah, I bundle grass into loops on the outside to better conceal it but it worked well with no grass as well.

Thanks

Well, something went wrong above. The very fisrt picture should be in portrait mode and the aluminum poles are verticle. Tried to edit, tried to add this note into original post but unable to most likely due to my inability to do so.

Mark,
I have a similar blind setup on my Kara Hummer. This is what I use to keep the two halves of the blind together.

Mark,
What diameter are you dealing with? Amazon has a few varieties. I don't use these, but they may be an option.

Double Port Pipe Clamps Clips

Thanks Dave. These may be perfect as well. I bet I could permanently screw on side to the aluminum frame (through that middle rubber piece - hopefully they are rubber and not metal) so it would come undone when wanting to have the clam shell fall to the sie. Thanks. Ill google

This would be perfect. Do you have a link or a name I can google. Excatly what I'm looking for. I use bigger versions of this to hold my 360 degree stern light under the deck but I think this is different.

Thanks
Mark,
I think that I purchased this clip at Menards in the PVC pipe fittings section.

I'm not 100% how your system works but what comes to my mind is a quick release knot. If there is some force wanting to pull the halves apart when released I think your solution might be as simple as a little cord and a little time spent getting proficient tying a knot.
