    They passed the real test

So my son Hunter and I are out in the back float testing some Mallard, Pintail and Canvas Back decoys I just finished. As we sat there watching the breeze bob them up and down I noticed a pintail getting shallow in the puddle and begin to tilt slightly. I was about to walk down and put in deeper...

    Decoy Carving Students...

Hey everyone, What a very cool, historical experience. For those who may not know, Pat is the great-grandson of George "Home Run" Barto. Mr. Barto was a renown carver from Joliet, Illinois and carved thousands of decoys from the 1920's through the late 1950's. As Pat indicated, the head...

    Legal hunting age in Illinois?

As long as they attend a IDNR approaved hunter/safety course and pass the exam they are good to go. Out of five kids, my youngest was 8 when he took his class and passed the exam.

    ammunition sales???

Brent, Well said. I would add that those of us that remember Pres. Clinton's "Assault Weapon" follies have been through this before. Mad rush to the stores, prices going to outrageous levels by less than honest dealers (many of which went out of buisness later when people wised up), ammo...

    ammunition sales???

Just my thoughts and I have no firm numbers but..... Hoarders in my opinion, are a small part of the issue. The new firearm owners across the country are the cause for the shortage. Let me explain, (again not scientific just my thoughts). In Illinois, 65,000 plus, new firearm owners ID cards...

    ???What double barrel to buy???

Tom, Thanks for the heads up on the CZ. Couple of questions, did CZ stand by the gun and fix it? What shells were you using when the extractor trapped it? I am always curious about gun failures. I am sorry you had bad hunts witht that gun. So far, mine has operated flawlessly (knock...

    ???What double barrel to buy???

If you are not married to the idea of gunning with an older SXS, I have some recommendations. Not knowing your budget I'll list three. Stoeger makes several SXS shotguns in .410, 20ga and 12ga. I have used one for layout divers and was very successful. At the tail end of the2012 season I...
