MAY What's On Your Workbench?

Brandon, I've been waiting for you to start this but apparently you've gotten lazy;-)

So here's what's off my workbench. The rig I carved and painted over the last, well, we won't talk about how long I worked on them. The old man is mine. The chessie is the girl that stole my heart for the breed and is now mistreated by Brandon.

Now let's see whats actually on yours.

Wow,
I don't know what to say. I invite you up to my place take you to my secrete hunting grounds stay up late helping you rig your decoys take pictures of you and your dad and in return I get accused of mistreating my dog and being lazy. You know with friends like you!

Next thing you know I am going to be accused of not getting pictures sent to you in a timely manor.

Glad to see you posted this. That was a fun hunt and even better that we got to shoot ringers over your new ringer blocks. New decoys are working there way to being done on my bench but not quite yet.

Yeah, you know it's late when I remembered while posting this that I actually have other pictures from the trip.....somewhere.....in your computer.

Once they're done they're kind of off the workbench. We want to see the progress man;-)

Brandon,

At least he didn't say anything about your decoys. :>)

Geoff very nice decoys as always.

Since Andrew gave me a hard time I sat down and painted for an hour today.

I also did this.
This is the second and final batch of syrup. All together we produced 10 gallons 5 in each batch. The first batch was light and the second was darker. I prefer the darker but the lighter grades sell for more money if you are doing this commercially. You can see the difference in the second pic. First pic is of all of the second batch after bottling.

i'm gonna need one of those in my box as well :)

Brandon, that's awesome. I made syrup one season, NJ is too warm many years for a good sap run. The year I did it the syrup was very light and almost had a vanilla flavor to it. Didn't get but a few pints for alot of work!

So there are some positive things to having a climate where it can snow in may!

Geoff,
Very cool shape on that one.

A quick sketch and a little water color this evening to get my mind in a good place. Only my second four legged critter and it still needs some work on the rear 1/3rd.

A small 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 German Wirehaired Pointer.

Atta boy Brandon....now my toast this morning suddenly seems pretty lame;-)

Also, nice sketch Tim. It reminds me of my old Draht.

Geoff, you knock it out of the ballpark again.

Brandon, I want the darkest stuff in that mason jar. The wooly buggers and bark chip stuff. It has all of the flavor.

Pat, I know a nice place to float those bills.

Sprigs are solid Michigan white cedar bodies and Wisconsin white pine heads with a hollow white pine keel. For my Mud Lake Rig for use along the great and mighty Illinois River... Carved with a Rutgers spokeshave, a Warren knife and finished on an Illinois River Carving Knife... :)

It's simple, just take off everything that doesn't look like a pintail...

Brad - I know you do and you're killing me. The cork gunners in the picture is the 3rd time I've had to replace birds in my personal rig... Geesh!

Hope you are well... pg

Pat,

As I am computer disabled Ill bring my Cans that I just finished, over to your place and maybe you can show me how to load the photos. Nice bills! And the Sprigs are sweet.
