    Making a fiberglass coffin ?'s

Yes, I use the blinds in flooded fields in Mississippi, most of the time the water is less than one foot. They are warm, I carry a dozen corks in each one, but you could carry more decoys. I grass them out with rafia and bamboo.

    Making a fiberglass coffin ?'s

I'm all about building things, but, I have two Drake Coffin Blinds. The same people that make the hunting clothing. They are made from thick plastic, weigh about 50 pounds and have doors on them like a ground blind. These were a lot cheaper than what it would cost me to build them from...

    North Alabama WMAs

I quess this is going to continue to be a trend until the economy stabilizes. Everyone seems to be pulling back and watching to see what will be thrown at us next. But, on the bright side, out-of-state fishing license seems to be doing real well here!

    North Alabama WMAs

This is sad to hear. The WMA's in North Jackson County serve numerous hunters from this area as well as hunters from all over the Southern United States. I see more out-of-state hunters than locals on a regular basis, those are staying several days and spending lots of bucks in an area that only...

    It's Tough Keeping Up (pics)

Eric, enjoy all these young years of duck hunting. My son turned twenty-one this year and is leaving for marine boot camp shortly. We enjoyed several hunts together this year knowing it may be a while before we can enjoy them again. I chairish ever hunt we have had since I started carrying him...

    BBSB w/ MudMotor??

I am running a 27 hp Mud Buddy on a Devlin Cackler with a modified transom. The motor is a HD Lite which is made for smaller/lighter boats. I run 24 mph on gps. Where I hunt is a lot of shallow water with vegetation. The HD Lites are small frame short tail. The benefit of running in vegetation...

    AA Broadbill motor type/size?

Eric, I remember seing a photo of an AA at what used to be Gann's for sale about the same time I run into Jeff Smith at the same location. In talking to you in the past I decided that was probably your boat because there wasn't many of them around. I looked at Jeff's boat and ran down the plans...

    AA Broadbill motor type/size?

Bill, like Eric, had one, hunted it for several years by-my-self. When the boy got old enough to go, I got trapped one Sunday afternoon at Murpy Hill. Built the BBII that summer and sold the broadbill. It's a good boat, but you can run into problems on Guntersville with it. Dave

With all this talk of gloom and doom over the economy let's make it worse

Back to where Eric begin, I run a drug task force in North Alabama ( Meth Mountain ). You would think that I wouldn't have to worry about a job. Wrong, I've already been informed from the state head that I will be getting a 70% cut in my federal funding come July 1, 09. The federal funding makes...

Mid Summer North Alabama WMA Report

Guntersville is my home lake. I have been hunting the lake for ducks since 1974. In those days NOBODY duck hunted. For the guys who hunt Guntersville, think about going to Siebold Creek launch on opening day and nobody being there. Mallards were easy to kill daily. But, duck hunting clothes and...

    Boat Insurance?

I have my boat insured with state farm. I took my marine police inspection papers along with several photos of the boat to my agent. I pay $14 a month for $10,000 coverage on my cackler, 27 hp mudbuddy, and trailer. The insurance on my son's war eagle is $10 a month for $6500 coverage. But, I...

    trim tabs

Eric, with the boat unloaded, I have a major porpoise problem. I can run about 18 mph on gps, but when I increase the speed the boat gets to where it cannot be controlled. That is even with the motor buried under the boat. With my son in the front of the boat ( 165 pounds, 25 mph ), I still get a...

    trim tabs

I hunt the tennesse river and don't have to deal with the tides, but that is my main concern-pulling the boat backwards after I pulled it up under trees or next to shallow brush

    trim tabs

Is anyone using trim tabs on their boat instead of wedges? There are small tabs on the market for 25 hp which appear to work off of the water pressure pushing them up as the boat speed increases. I'm running a cackler with a 27 hp mudbuddy which will fly, but the nose will not stay down without...
