    Looking for opinions

Royalex is fine stuff. I have a Mohawk Solo 13 (also now defunct due to Royalex plant closing) that weighs 44# naked. It is skinned in Mossy Oak. I'll be using it tomorrow and the next few days on our early teal/wood duck season. Royalex plant closure was a big factor in the demise of the top...

    Dove question?

Great looking birds. We killed a bunch of ratty looking young birds this weekend.

What's on your WORK BENCH - SEPTEMBER 2020

A glimmer of opening day success with lots of work left to go. And now I'm working on building a small pen to hold training birds.

Through-bolt safety - switching from RH to LH ?

I've always just reached around the trigger guard but have picked up a few tang safeties lately and like them much better.

    Facemask or not?

For hunting purposes I leave my nose hanging out of my mask and my glasses don't fog too bad. Not covid kosher.

    One Scaup Limit?

Eric, I imagine it's for the sake of simplicity.

What's on your WORK BENCH - July 2020

Finally done. I called the local farmer's co op yesterday and they informed me that the panels came in 2+ weeks ago but nobody bothered to tell me. This will be daylight only for the next week or so to give everyone a chance to burn their powder. I'm not terribly concerned about gun shyness, as...

What's on your WORK BENCH - June 2020

My dog kennel has come to a stand still. Waiting on my wire panels to come in at the local farm supply store- who knew that a 16' long welded wire panel could get lost in the mail? Until then, how about some cute puppies?

    Inflatable Life Belt

Keep in mind with any of these that a manual vest/belt requires you to be conscious to activate it- traditional PFDs don't. This may be known by everyone, but they aren?t ready to use right out of the box either. You have to charge/load them- we had some kayakers get in a bad way over this...

What's on your WORK BENCH - June 2020

Workbench isn?t big enough so I?m building it in the yard. Forgive the humongous picture. I can?t figure out how to compress it on my phone

    Game camera reviews/recommendations

The card readers usually require an app. It?s free but another layer of tech to deal with. The phone card readers for iPhones are usually twice as much as android phones. It?s a racket. I just bring mine home and plug into the computer.

    Game camera reviews/recommendations

Browning cams have great picture quality but for WiFi you?ll probably be looking for more of a wireless security camera

    Getting their feet wet

I wouldn?t start out with trips where others are involved and let them decide when they are ready for a bigger adventure. I?m also not the type to put up a pop up blind and let mine play video games and not be engaged in the hunt. If I?m hunting, so is he. Mine is only 6 so we will see how this...

    Dog run/kennel design

We are calling her Whitley. We?d like to have an inside dog but our youngest had some allergy issues so that?s out of the question until she grows out of it anyways. My wife is a teacher so her and the kids are keeping her entertained through the day right now. I?m leaning towards a slightly...

    More Facebook Marketplace Loonies

I know the feeling. Wife has been selling some baby and house stuff. Same deal as you- ?I?ll take it. When/ where can we meet?? ?Ok see yo then but I?m only paying 50% of your heavily discounted price.? Idiots.

    Dog run/kennel design

So I just got an English setter and need some pointers on how you?d build a kennel. Thoughts on size, shape, materials, floors, etc. Dog will be outside except for really cold conditions and I may be adding a similar sized retriever (Boykin) in the near future. PS- this post wouldn?t be...

NDR--That Partridge Scared the **** Out of Me.

I had a hen quail flush off a nest between my legs while I was working on a ground nesting bird research project. We returned 5 days later right as 16 of the 21 eggs (probably some dump eggs) were it hatching. If they sit that tight, they are close to hatching and much less likely to abandon as...
