Glad they worked for you...even with both ends anchored they swam really nice when I had them out. No pics of them at work?

    Decoy Show Results

Yes sir Tom, was nice meeting your better half....having a little of the special juice.....what ever Doug didn't get...:-) and seeing how the Cali boys do business. I'll try to keep some time open to visit next time I'm in the KC area. Again, lots of very nice decoys were floated...well...

Yes .. sunscreen and a hat are in order. Yuma has been running 10 degrees over normal averages.....85 - 88 today I believe....but it makes that tall frosty while setting in the shade even better .. come the 1600 hrs. mandatory "Safety Meeting" :-)

    Decoy Show Results

Well Tom it was more of a fast walk as I couldn't run...would have left my better half behind. :-) It always amazes me to see the feather detail on some of the "working" decoys but.............many of those folks only know one way to paint....darn good....and some of us folks also know only one...

Question about fixed chokes in a double gun for duck hunting?

My 12 ga Ithica/SKB 100 was marked Mod and Full. My gunsmith said it was actually IM and F so I had him ream the Full to a true Mod and I have shot 100's of 2 3/4 inch FS 3's and 4's with great results on decoying divers.

    Pocket Knife

Case Executive lock back. Just handed one to a Police Officer at a Sea Hawks Game recently when I forgot to leave it in the car and had no choice but to trash it or not go into the game. :-( Times have changed!!! Carried a "pocket knife" since I was 10 years old or so....maybe 1955 or so. Went...

2014 - Signs of the apocalypse

I can't believe the number of nonhunters that love that show and think that is what waterfowlers are really like. Sorry to their fans but they are not who I want to represent me as a waterfowler. The reality TV is way out of control...but then maybe our whole society is going that way?

    Frozen cables!!

My experiance is the same as Rich stated......once they are voided they are toast. They will freeze in the winter and rust up during the summer. I have seen them soaked for months submerged in an oil/diesel bath and they still were not rejuvenated. You need to replace them ASAP. That is if...

Update on the wolf meat experiment.

I made a stew from the loins of a yote I head shot one winter. Was a very passable stew. The meat resembled pork when I pulled the loins after skinning for the fur. No unusual smell or taste when raw or cooked...just meat.

    Game Strap

I have been making a similar one for 10 years but mine uses loops of cord instead of the rings on the end of the single cord. Three loops out each side of the handle. When they get bloody just throw it in the washer with your jeans...good as new. Looks to me like the "ring" model would...

Site Auction: Lee Harker Canvasback Pair

Lee and another of the MLB "old timers" befriended me when I made my first visit to West Lake. Both Lee and the other fellow - Chuck Crump - I think .... were down to earth guys and also more than willing to share their knowledge of hunting and decoy carving with me. I hand carried a decoy back...

Killing fuzzy mold in a decoy?

So a question if I may? Do you think the wood is picking up new moisture while setting on the floor or was it still wet, higher than normal moisture content for decoy carving, when you carved the decoys? When I dried some wet/green wood I had a mold develop on some of the solid blocks of...

    Youth 20 Ga Suggestions

If he is the size of my 11 year old Grandson...about average I'm told...nothing will fit him without altering the stock. I bought him a Mossberg mini 510 .. I think? Smaller than any 20 ga I have ever seen. To small for me to shoot.....but it fit him fine. I was cautioned on line that it kicked...
