    Ducker Days NH?

I was hoping they would have itthis year. Hoping to be able to sell/swap some decoys and maybe sell a boat as well. Perhaps that wasnt the type of event for that sort of thing and that was one of the things I was wondering.

    Decoy sealing; Beyond the basics

After years of frustration and watching my smooth, sealed, and painted decoys have the grain raise I am asking for advice. Does this happen to everyone or am I doing something wrong. A recent batch carved of Wendel's cedar was particularly bad, is this a function of kiln drying and how little...

    For those with sneakboxes...

Zach, what kind of boat do you have? I have both and Estuary and a Classic Barnegat. The latter is faster and uses less gas but the former is quite a bit more seaworthy in anything other than a head sea. Safe range in either boat depends more on weather and tide than hull shape or any other...

    advice from old gun enthusiasts

I am not planning on shooting any gun to pieces, but was simply warned that that was what would happen and was trying to corroborate this point. The crux of the matter is that I would like to find a classic double and shoot it as it was meant to be shot. Something not too rare or expensive but...

    advice from old gun enthusiasts

Ok, I understand the weekness of the stocks Can be an issue, but it seems there are ways of fixing that. What about steel shot, is the hysteria liability driven or are there many documented failures of barrels used with modern steel loads, wads etc? What if Briley chokes are installed?

    advice from old gun enthusiasts

Recently undertaken project to get myself a "shooter grade" older double for duck hunting has proven more frustrating than anticipated. question is this, Do LC Smith's really have a weak stock and are not to be used for shooting unless pampered like royalty and fed low pressure shells or did...

    Air drying cedar

Just happened upon a load of free atlantic white cedar logs. Winter cut (I think) 2-3 ft diameter 3' lengths. Will it dry properly if just left upright in a garage or should the bark come off? should the heart and wane be sawn off as well? or it it better to leave the log as big as possible...

    A couple new decoys...

Looks pretty good Zach. Do you only carve cork/ I have never tried scratch painting on cork but I suspect that you might have an easier time on wood due to the irregularities of the cork surface.
