    Lund SV-18

Useta have that boat. My cousin still has one. Hunted a whole hell of a lot out of some mid-1980s 16s and 18s with similar designs. All three boats are still getting abused on a daily basis and they are bombproof but I sure wouldn't mess with the deck! In really hard wave hits the bow deck...

More motor mount issues, How would you mount this little motor?

Todd: Have him weld a piece of 2" aluminum angle across the aft, top of the pod. To this, you can bolt whatever piece of lumber gives you the correct mounting height ... e.g. 2x2 if you want it to sit right on top of the pod; stand a 2x4 or 2x6 on edge and bolt it up if you want to "jack" it up...

    This will make you pucker......

I don't like bears, even little black ones like we have here. One tore up a tent (with me in it) when I was a kid, another one tore up a campsite of mine in my late teens, and another one greeted me at the watering hole at a distance of about 12". Then I forgot about bears for a long time, until...

duckboats.net is coming to life - Roll Call Time

Matt Snyder. 29th year on the water. Oneida Lake, Lake Ontario, the Finger Lakes, St. Lawrence, Maryland ... maybe Rhode Island if conditions warrant, maybe North Carolina ... have ducks (and vaca days and gas money) will travel! My boy has been riding along for a couple years and saw his...

    Lund Alaskan

Frank we've been running alaskans and SSVs since the early 80s. I have had an Alaskan just like the one you're looking at, I currently own a '99 18 and there are another two 18s and two 20s in the family fleet. In other words, we pretty much like our Alaskans for our range of applications. They...

    Hydraulic Steering retrofit?

As it is now there's plenty of room between the drag link and the splash well (no chance of it hitting)... does the hydraulic cylinder diminish that clearance any?

    Hydraulic Steering retrofit?

Dad wants me to put hydraulic steering on his 20 Alaskan/115 four stroke Yamaha... The Bay Star system looks simple enough, and like the steering arm end of the contraption will be able to move up and down freely with the jack plate. Anyone here ever put one on? Can you recommend any good...

    Winter breakage excitement!

Not many ducks... As we headed up the lake they saw us coming, picked up en masse and headed south for good. it was good for several days BEFORE that though. And it was too cold for pictures! I'm thinking this is a great opportunity to replace this trailer... It's a good piece of...

    Winter breakage excitement!

Last few hunts we've been frozen out of the launches we want... but enticed by flocks of 15,000+ mixed redheads, cans, and bluebills. What's a silly duck hunter to do? Use an alternate launch to make a 12+ mile run in sloppy seas on 10 degree days. Fortunately we have (just) enough boat...

Just found a new product...pretty cool

Lou... Does this thing have a security application? e.g. could you clasp a piece of chain around the tongue and lock it, to secure not only the bar but the trailer as well? The pic on his Web site shows it locked to the trailer on a length of chain... that's not much good b/c while it keeps...

    Bilge pumps and cold weather

Scott: I think it's worth it, but it's a lot of work to keep a pump running in wicked cold fresh water day after day especially if you're going to take it out of the water between hunts. We run wicked cold fresh the last 5-7 weeks of our season depending on the year. What you see here...

A birdie bounced off my window...

DR... Back in '97 or so my dad and I were driving across the causeway over Lake Manitoba on our way to one of the best duck hunting spots either of us has ever had the good fortune to hunt. I looked out the passenger side window of the rental car and found myself eye to eye with a bald eagle...

    2 cycle engine oil...

Take a look at Amsoil. Their Saber (for pre-mix) would work pretty well across your broad lineup of applications. I use their HP injector in my outboard (along with Yamaha 2M) and their Interceptor in the sled. I am happy with them... Less smoke than competing products and plugs run real...

Guidelines for choosing a boat trailer??

Mark: Look up Nick at Conway's Aero Marina, Cicero, 315.699.7736. They're at the boat show this week so you might wait 'til next week. Nick has sold/found us some different trailers and helped set them up for some fairly specific applications (such as launching big boats in very shallow...

    SPOT or Personal Locator beacons?

Hm. At the end of the day I would rather be able to communicate reliably with help, instead of communicate (maybe) with home, especially because she can't send a chopper in a hurry. Sounds like I'll have to choose between the two, and in a pinch I would rather choose the one that will more...

Would you Drive 500 Miles to Buy a Lund????

Carl: I am about to shoot you a PM with some thoughts. I misspoke in my post re: "lighter / more stripped down" because I missed the "Wilderness" part of the post... More to follow. -M

    SPOT or Personal Locator beacons?

My wife gives me hell every time I come home a little late from a hunt, and more generally about how much I hunt (and ride) alone. Being able to hit a "see, honey, I'm OK" button may be kind of important. I have a very little experience with ACR's other equipment .. do they offer anything with...
