    Something that makes me cringe

Yeah, I probably wasn't clear about that. I hunt the Canadian prairies. Most hunts are too short. We like to make it challenging by only hunting one species or only drakes.

    Something that makes me cringe

It wasn't a show... it was a short (30 second max.) clip on Facebook posted by a group I follow as a friend used to scout for them... many guns and it was raining ducks. My friend has since parted company with them. Not my cup of tea. Nor is "kill em". Maybe it is just me. Now make no...

    Something that makes me cringe

I'm with you Captain! Up close, one or two shooters, birds decoying, that's hunting. I love Phil's comments about the voices. Best not to listen to them. I have had many great solo hunts but on big water prefer to have company.

    Something that makes me cringe

Am I the only one? Just watched a clip of some early season hunting in Saskatchewan. The "boss" in the group yells "kill em" to signal the shot. Every time I see a clip like that I feel more than a tad uncomfortable. Is it machismo or just honesty? To me the hunt is about so much more...

    A series of bad decisions...

I am trying to imagine what kind of 13 1/2 foot kayak will safely carry 5 people even in calm water. I hope this is a reporting error. A series of bad decisions indeed.

    Loaded for bear...

I like the one's that come off the front of the truck. It places the boat above the front hood and cab. You can then unload the boat with a trailer still attached. I just double checked the BC legislation and it is still unlawful to tow more than one trailer behind a vehicle. This includes...

    Loaded for bear...

You must have been in Alberta where it is legal. Not legal in British Columbia and definitely not tolerated. He wouldn't get past the first RCMP. That's why you see the boat on top of the truck in BC and the ATV inside the back of the toy hauler travel trailer.

    my duck

Yup, I used to hunt with a guy who claimed every duck shot as his. Two things... he shoots at everything and rushes every shot. Once I made the decision to stop hunting with him I was amazed at the number of great hunts I had. Ducks got closer and the bag was plentiful. I never looked back...

    who dealt with the law

I was set up with a friend on a spot we have hunted for years in the late season. It is near a road, facing out into the river. We had shot a few ducks and watched as a police vehicle slowly passed then returned and the office got out. He approached and apologized for interrupting our hunt...

    What happened to Winter???

I found your winter. Lots of snow here and the ice fishing has had a good start.

    A new beginning...

I love the sentiment portrayed here. It has more meaning with each passing year.

    Thanksgiving holiday

While I didn't waterfowl hunt as much as I would have liked, there is so much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.

    Well, that was different...

That's pretty cool. One of the things I always love about bow hunting is the opportunity to get really close to the animal. Having a deer walk to your light is something different indeed!

    Jump start for the migration

That photo is taken from my kitchen deck at our home in Alberta. We are just east of Calgary.

    Jump start for the migration

Al, I wasn't expecting the ponds to freeze solid. Going to have to get out tomorrow to see what is left for birds. Glad I winterized the trailer when I did.
