    Kicker on Bankes Freedom

A picture says it all! I was thinking the step/handle would interfere with the kicker motor bracket, but this looks like it should work with no real issues. The kicker does look to be turned around 180 degrees here, but I assume the motor has full 360 rotation. Thanks again.

    Kicker on Bankes Freedom

Thanks for that info! I like the peace of mind that the redundancy of a second motor gives you. I'll see what size/brand can fit on there once the boat gets built/delivered.

    Kicker on Bankes Freedom

Gents, Thanks for the input, perhaps I'm overly cautious for no reason. I've never had an issue with the Yamaha on my Lund while hunting, but with this new boat I see myself heading further out on the big water, and perhaps in somewhat heavier seas. As was mentioned, good maintainance...

    Kicker on Bankes Freedom

Has anyone put a kicker or trolling motor on their Bankes boat? I can’t say I’ve ever seen one and Mike doesn’t recall installing one out of the factory. The transom is certainly pretty narrow back there and the stern step/handle seem to be in the way, hence I’m wondering if someone has come...

    Question for the Lk.Ontario hunters...

Hello Brian, There are slim pickings on the Lake Ontario Shore in Canada until you are well east of Toronto. If you're willing to drive 5+ hours from the Michigan border you can find some good hunting in both public marshes and a managed waterfowl area that can provide some good shoots, and...

    Southern Ontario

Kirk, For someone in your situation I'd suggest trying either Rondeau or Long Point, both on Lake Erie. They have managed hunting opportunities that will normally produce birds throughout the season. They also offer the chance to hunt larger water and get away from the “government marsh”...

    Lee Harker's Passing

I just received the sad and tragic news, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Harker family. I was so lucky to have hunted with Lee on several different occasions, and what I remember the most are the times away from the hunt; the joking, camaraderie, and hi-jinks that made the times together...

Who has repainted their boat - removed stickers

I painted my new red Lund SSV back in 1997 with minimal prep. I lightly scuffed the paint and stickers with a 3M pad, primed and then sprayed on two coats of paint that I got from a vendor at Point Moulee. I sprayed it again in 2003 to cover up some the wear areas. Since then I'd say there is...

    Decoy Carving

Hi Eric, Jelinek Cork in Oakville ON has cork sheets if thats what you plan on using for the bodies. I've always used their products and have been pretty happy with it, plus you can pick it up in person and avoid shipping costs if you're ordering any quantity. There's a wood carving store...

Lee, Get your arse up here next week, all you need is a plane ticket and waders. You're more than welcome to come up next year and we can hunt the Delta Marsh and layout hunt to the northwest. Not sure if Brent will make next week, you two can plan on coming up next year. Steve, I...

Flocks are thick and willing to decoy, we had a great layout hunt last Friday with Cans and Redheads a plenty. For those heading north next week with the MLB'ers, expect some great hunts and see you in a week. Here's a few pics of last week's hunt. Gary

    back from Manitoba

Sounds like you had a great trip! Manitoba is a great place for waterfowl hunting, 6-8 weeks of amazing hunting followed by 6 months of freezing cold temps follwed by 4 months of mosquitoes all wrapped up in the highest taxes in the country. Glad you enjoyed your time here.

Thanks for the compliments...I think. Actually, when it comes to shooting skills and hitting decoys I think Greybeard has us all beat.

Hello Eric, I'll be hunting somewhere on the 28 & 29, but should be around on the 30th. What part of the city will you be visiting? I live in the south part but would be willing to meet up anywhere. If it works into your schedule, we could perhaps hook up for a hunt...how does layout...
