    Making a punt gun

I had a group of like 6 ready to rock and roll that way and then Covid hit and its been a disaster trying to make it happen since then. Its on the bucket list and before I give up this sport of fowl, I want to make it there one day. I also want to hunt Alaska for eiders and harlequin and the...

    Who Here Bought This Call?

I bet it wasnt him. theres deeper pockets than John stephens believe it or not. Theres some big players up and down the west coast when it comes to calls. Ive seen quite a few from trading and getting to know call collectors. Ive seen some dandy collections in my short life. to answer your...

@SJ Fairbank we were helping a young man getting started on flocking, and he kept posting on how it wasnt spreading very far and how expensive flocking was. I made youtube videos showing how we do the second coat of flocking and how how the sieve is used to spread the flocking. You can see in my...

This where my hens are currently. Obviously still need a little paint time and bills need some paint and eyes need to be cleaned. But you can see how much buff color gets added to them. Hens are hard for me still, but slowly making progress.

Yes hen mallards. I’ve never painted a black duck as I’ve never even seen one. We don’t get blacks or mottled ducks out west, just Mexican mallards. I’m excited to finally get to new species of decoys next off season. Only thing my squiggly artistic hands have created are pintail and mallard...

@SJ Fairbank just to give you some comparison, my hens are gray paint with feather brown flocking. I think Don says to use black paint or leather brown paint with feather brown flocking to get that darker color for black ducks. I know the lighting isn’t the best in my shop, but the brown would...

Funny you say this... the magic isnt in the airbrushing, its all the flocking when hunting. Let me back track a little though and say, you certainly are getting a master piece when getting a decoy from Don because his and Calebs artistic ability is just at an outstanding level. His workmanship...

@SJ Fairbank here is what my mallards look like before I start airbrushing. I’m going to switch up the hens a little bit next time I do some, lighten the head color and leave the rest the brown color. You can see I do gray body and black heads and rump for drakes. My hens are 95% done, and I’ll...

    Biggest Hive I've Ever Seen

If i remember right (had an old timer I used to hunt with MANY MANY years ago who did the bee thing) he would boil and pour through cheese cloth to filter it.
