We used fedex for years and our bill was always over $20k a year and that was with a discount. When a friend clued me into pirateship the savings was stunning. I was paying $80 to ship 4 crane decoys to Texas, it would be under $50 now with pirateship. We also had to drive to the city to...

I do it just to save customers money, they pay the shipping, so it's not out of my pocket, but sometimes shipping is prohibitive for a customer to pull the trigger on buying decoys. When you are trading decoys for stuff, it comes straight out of your own pocket, it makes saving money more...

It was $48 to ship these two to North Carolina. I've shipped boxes of 6 blacks to maryland last week for $70. We use pirateship.com it has saved us a lot in shipping. Six mallards to California is routinely $35.

    Question For Retired Hunters

What a bunch of old geezers we have around here. I'll be 68 in a couple weeks and feel comfortable in this group. Retirement is such a final thing, I think of it more of a change to the next available thing. Sitting Bull was quoted saying "when the buffalo are gone, we will hunt mice, for we...

These are on order and I don't have the time to move them back and forth. However I'm going to make one to send to you and let you do your magic on it.

    All Things Flocking

I don't particularly like almond for much of anything without mixing it and I really like the head color on SJ's black duck. I'm going to have to dig around and figure all that out, I've got to try out the sand. i'm assuming that is what SJ used on the head of the black duck, what flocking did...

    All Things Flocking

I checked on amazon and the prices are all over the place. I saw two quarts for $26 and one quart for $26, I wonder how that all shakes out. That color looks very close to what I've mixed starting with almond and brown that I used on the heads of black ducks. the bill colors you mention are...

    All Things Flocking

yep, you are the "Bob". Where do you get your sand color? I haven't seen it at our ACE hardware or at Home Depot. I've been mixing colors to get where I want to go in the sand direction. I'm really curious about your beak colors. I've only made a half dozen specks over the past 20 years...

    All Things Flocking

wow, everyone is doing so good on this flocking process. It all sounds pretty familiar on color choices. I need Bob to give me his flocking recipes for specks, I've got six of them in front of me. I'll preface this next statement that it is a joke. Don't you know it takes 5 days for...

under 50 days, it's getting close. I find myself in the shop all the time, but that was the case before retirement since I'm doing the same thing I've always done the last 45 years, make stuff. It's real nice to be able to do what you want when you want and not have to wait till after work or...

Too hot… but finally pulling the trigger

I've seen rattlers around here a couple of times in October while deer hunting and chukar hunting. I figure by this time of year they are beginning to congregate around denning areas. Our temps right now are pretty average for this time of years, but here in South Central Idaho we need some...

I spent the morning roughing out some specks and a canvasback. It's high level static cling out there right now.
