US Drought Monitor: Not Looking Good for Anyone

We are 7 inches below average here in NW Pa. with no rain in sight. Constant SW winds have killed the hunting here in the last 5 seasons and now we are stuck in that pattern again. I'm glad I am at the end of my hunting career because if I was just starting out, I doubt duck hunting would hold...

Nice work on the nesting boxes Paul. All we see here in NW Pa. is Wood ducks anymore Paul, and I'm grateful for that.

Waterfowl harvest and breeding population reports are now available

Isn't SC one of the worst places in the U.S. for duck hunting? If it's so bad why would there be so many additional hunters?

Waterfowl harvest and breeding population reports are now available

Pa. picked up an additional 9000 hunters from 22 to 23. That's a huge hunter increase. Additionally Pa shot over 6000 more mallards than 22. Sorry but I'm having a hard time believeing these numbers. Also the goose numbers are astronomical. An increase of over 60,000 more birds shot than 2022...

More Canada Restrictions Against US Hunters

I'm not sure where you live now Vince or where you lived in Pa., but it's gotten much worse over the years. The last several years with little to no winter has really hurt the hunting. I am in the extreme NW corner at Erie. Presque Isle is a shadow of what it once was even 10 years ago.

More Canada Restrictions Against US Hunters

As the resource population declines, you are going to see more of this type of thing and it's not limited to Canada. I believe Kansas has some new rules in place for OOS'ers, and of course SoDak has had restrictions for years on OOS'ers, unless you want to pay for pheasant hunting then everyone...

    Lund Snipe

Nice looking Lund Snipe, 1980, on the Minneapolis CL.. To be honest I don't think I've ever seen one before. Nice looking craft. I was tooling around looking for a 1970's SSV-16 with a 25 on it. Plenty of Lunds up north if I ever make it out to NoDak again, I'll have to pick up a boat on the...

    South Dakota waterfowl hunting

Has anyone ever been there to primarily duck hunt (you couldn't go without shooting a few pheasant) and if you did did you have a guide, public or private land, and where about did you actually go? I've only heard of people talking about Webster but I don't know anything about it. How hard was...

    Canoe question

Is there any advantage to having a square stern canoe vs a pointed canoe ? I am looking at Sportspal/Radisson canoes for this upcoming season. Also I've had guys claim that SP uses a heavier gauge aluminum than Radisson. I checked their website and the boats are identical but they made no...

    What's everyone watching

For myself, I'm watching the second season of Tour De France Unchained on Netflix, and I must say it's even better than the first season. The athletes are superhuman to say the least and you get see a lot of up close stuff with them and the team, in addition to seeing the race. One thing I know...

The old outboard is on its way out.

I don't think you can go wrong with either Suzuki or Tohatsu. Their reliability is what sells them. I did see a sweet old Yamaha for sale the other day. I think it was a 95. Those used to be the gold standard in outboards when 2 strokes ruled the waves......
