Most folks that carve and sale decoys don't keep them in stock. Most of the time you have to place an order and the maker will make it for you. It's also wise to order ahead of time that you need it as for some folks it takes a while to get orders out since they are hand made.

You mean just like Bigfoot thought it was worth noting on their website that they would NEVER have a China connection and everything would be made in the U.S.? Like I said they are both great brands but you can't judge them by what used to be the standard. Enjoy the new decoys.

The GHG and Bigfoot decoys from 3 years ago aren't like the ones they make now. They have changed the bases and other things as well. You can't judge a decoy on the company's past any more.

From what I understand the geese are going overseas as well. If they would have made better looking decoys they could have stayed in the U.S. and not shipped any production overseas.

I have the GHG and really like them. Both brands are good decoys. I just like the GHG better.

Greenhead Gear have both fullbodies and shells that look great.

Crow hunting is pretty fun. If we are doing a feeding set-up we will stake out a place for quite awhile. I have 2 dozen of the GHG FFD Elite Crow decoys and place I am in the process of making 3 dozen flocked silos. When we hunt a fighting set-up we use very few decoys because we don't stay...

1). Best type of wood to use? Whichever suits your fancy. I like kiln dired Basswood and Cypress. One of these days I hope to start carving more White Cedar. 2). What tools do I need? I do have access to a band saw. My main tools are a bandsaw, drill press, Foredom and Dremel Tool...

I put bottom boards on all of my decoys. I use 1by pine and Titebond 2. If you seal the decoy it will be fine and last you many years.

Refuge is a great site. You can tell because folks talk about it on this site all of the time.
