    Interesting Band Information

Carl that one looks brand new ... HA HA HA. I have yet to harvest an old band, oldest being 7 yrs. old (believe I have 3 that old). The one I recovered this year I thought for sure was going to be one of the "oldies" due to the wear and tear on the band. Ended up being 4 yrs. old. I was more...

    Hybrid Mallard X Seagull?

Ha Ha Ha. Your dog is like "what the heck man?" Just an idea on the band. Since you can get so close to the bird use your camera to take photos of the band (digits). I did that with a video camera once in a different state on a Canada Goose and reported it as a sighting.

    Interesting Band Information

Carl asked on a post earlier about the banded Canvasback that I had harvested. While going though band certificates I came across one that I had from a Mallard I shot in AR.. The bird was banded in Seven Persons Alberta, I mapquested the distance and it ended up being a total of 1836.81 miles...

    Is it just me (NDR)

Yeah a little early, but not far away. Won't be long and the Black Morels will start to emerge. They are my favorite type to hunt. I use them in all kinds of dishes but like you I also saute alot up and eat. I cook/freeze alot as well as dehydrate for later use. I have to say that I enjoy...

    Could it be ?????

That's what I thought too at first, but if you look closely you will see the round white spot behind and below the eyes.

    Could it be ?????

Wow, it's smaller on here. Hard to see the white around the bill, and white spot behind and below the eye area.

    Could it be ?????

A person from this site sent me some photos this evening of some wildlife. In one shot I spotted what kind of looks like a hen Harlequin. After asking permission from the person that took the photo. I wanted to post it here and see what y'all thought. I know it isn't clear what it is, but what...

    One of my prized birds

Shot this bird the first season I hunted. This is the only banded diver I have harvested since I've been hunting. What's funny is when I picked it up and seen the band I was excited, but had no real clue what I had in my hand. I'm glad I chose to have it mounted.

    Broadies....

I guess it depends on what part of the country you're in as far as the "slang" names used for them. The photos you posted, the top and bottom birds are greaters, the rest are lesser drakes, I can't tell what the hen is. They are all really great shots. I really enjoy all the photos you guys...
