    What is this skiff?

one off boats were very common coming out of the Milwaukee area. That construction method is now known as stripper built and was very easy to build a one off boats this way. Anyone ever see a decoy weight like this before?

Served a dual purpose of ballast to a heavy high headed decoy and space saving room in a boat or gunny sack. I have a rig from the late 1980s that were all fitted with swing keels and floated well. Mine swung from front to back rather than side to side. I thought they represented a swimming...

What's on your Workbench? MARCH 2023

Finished up 16 Widgeon. These were the Herters fat jaw style I got from Dave D. Went on 63 puddler bodies that were restle coated. I flocked the heads to add some texture before top coat. First hens of this species I have painted ever so pretty much winged it.

remington 1100 old film with Long Island boats

I noticed the puff in that timber hunt also. Back in the day we would shoot AA Super Pigeon 7 1/2 live bird flyer loads in the timber and crush em. Today Boss # 5 shorties work very well.

    Alumacraft ducker

i had one and like others said ,it was historical and that part was fun but it did not fit the times. I was hunting at a club and the owner was afraid someone would steal it and he asked me not to bring it back. you should try it for yourself and if you dont like it you wont lose money on it.

    Homer decoys- righting themselves, tricks?

You may look at a swing keel that stores up next to the body when not deployed. Some versions ive made are just a stiff wire with a blob of lead in the center

    Are people really like this???

I think every kid ought to start out with a small boat or canoe and get a taste of what a big wake feels like when some jerk flys by just about swamping you and your boat. I wave when a big boat sees me and slows down. A tip of the hat to the captain who maybe has been in my shoes before.
