    Fuel Tank Question

Can't see why you can't just make up a fuel line with correct fittings , factory bulb and length of good hose from a marine dealer. Got to be cheaper than a $100. Thats highway robbery. Has it got something to do with the fuel pump on that little motor? Thats worth some research into the whys of...

Searching for a new Boat Design

Coming from an old fart thats hunted some small boats your father is going to struggle hunting from those smaller boats sitting low even on cushioned seats. Your better getting into something allowing for more upright seating such as a boat blind on a jon style or TDB style hull. I love the...

Last Week of the Season: Who's Hunting?

Yesterday A.M. Blowout low tide. Normally at least 2' of water over that ice you see my Molly retrieving on. Ice in pics is sitting on mud. Decoys are in water at ice edge . Made for tricky shooting as we had to shoot birds over ice on swing so she could make retrieves. I wouldn,t send her in...

    NDR: Cleaning Fish

One of the little Rapala's kept shaving sharp is the best I've seen for filleting small panfish. Most better blades I've seen just aren't as flexible. That flex in a sharp knife is what does the trick for me. The biggest trick might be keeping one sharp!

Well that didn't go like it was supposed to... motor trouble question?!?!?!?!

The Tohatsu use to get a better gearing ratio , especially important when carrying a load, than the same motor branded as Merc. That was when I bought mine 4 years ago, not sure about now.

    Snow on the Gulf Coast

Rub down door gaskets with silicone or even cooking oil. Doors won,t freeze shut then. My 2013 Sierra Pickup does it quickly without the lubricant. Not something you,ll normally worry about for sure in your area but you never know.

    Dealer rigging for warranty???

In my area commercial waterman can get motors cheaper due to no tax at sale but there's also a lessened warranty if any. Something to check in to if you've got a friend with commercial fishing/crabbing license. Myself with the amount of electronics & sensors that will put you in limp mode on a...

    Dealer rigging for warranty???

Don,t know about your dealer but rigging was built into price of motor I had installed on my 16 ' jon. Partly so boats wired right but also to make sure motors propped right and at right height for best hole shot. And even though my boats aluminum they did use a product, probably 4200 on bolts...

Well that didn't go like it was supposed to... motor trouble question?!?!?!?!

In that size motor a Merc & a Tohatsu are basically the same motor. Tohatsu,s may have an advantage in available gearing. I,ve got a 25 Tohatsu on my 16" jon and its been a great motor so far. But Tohatsu builds Mercs up to I believe 60 H.P. They also built or did recently the larger Honda,s.

    Trying to ID a duckboat.

Exact shape hull I had but originally mine had a lot of metal trim and bracing. After the redo w/new transom and metal bracing & seats removed I ran a 15 h.p. 2 stroke Merc on it because that was what I had. Handled motor fine but you needed dogs weight in the bow to keep it down . Motor...

    Trying to ID a duckboat.

Would like to see photos. The one I salvaged and redid years ago sounded like what your describing. I removed all the metal bracing and trim and opened it up with no seats when redoing. Friend who redid it for me made a mold off it and sold a few hulls locally.

    Cleaning Double Guns

I,ve been using CLP Cleaner / Lubricant for many years and loving it. And usually available at Walmarts in my area so I don,t have to search for it. As far as actual cleaning i,ve used everything from submersion in K1 kerosene and brushing to spray gun cleaner and brake cleaner. All works. A air...
