    Aging Ducks Before Cooking

We have been doing this with Choice venison cuts before freezing them or cooking them. The difference is incredible.

    Nice afternoon teal hunt

I've never taken a blue wing in full plummedge, very nice! I'll be in Florida this week. I never think to arrange a hunt!

    Anyone else collect decoy anchors?

Steve, Do you have any of these old grapple Herters anchors? I have a handful but I have not used them. They seem like pretty serious business! Cast Iron I believe.

You want a blow by blow story from SE Asia?

Hey, they are your sisters, not ours. If they are hot feel free to share. Sorry, couldn't resist.

January, 2016. What's on your workbench?

While it is not so much on the workbench, I have been busy around the house. I created a Turtle habitat for my mothers Russian Tortoise. The base was an old desk, but the rest was hand-made. The enclosure is 60' long, 24" wide and 20" tall at its highest point. There is a ramp, penthouse and...

    Quite the run of luck

I would say. That is the exact opposite of my season. I am jealous beyond words. Drop me a gps point, I'll be there Saturday! Lol.

    Float coats....

I have a float suit that is an old style. It is pretty stiff and I don't know if you would want to shoot out of it but you could put it on when you are not shooting. Probably not what you want, but it could be yours for the price of shipping. I was given two by a friend for free. I wear...

    Question re buying new boat

Good question. I learned last year that most dealers set their prices and if you call around you will get slightly different prices from each for the same thing. My last purchase was a tracker. The manufacturer sets the price, dealers are not allowed to stray from it. Tracker is a...

    Hunting Jacket recommendations

I had a Columbia duck parka 4 in 1, ceramic material. It was incredible. It fell out of my decoy sled at a wildlife area one day, and that was the end of it. I have lost a lot of equipment in my day, but I miss that the most. I replaced it with a herters coat. It is fine, but truly...

Movie Review (not even close to duck related)

Lol. Jaundice certainly won't lead to an academy award will it? Thanks for the review. It is rare that a movie catches you just right to make you want to share it. The last one for me was the Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Because we are all daydreamers.

    Aftermarket power tilt

Well T, I don't know anything about hydronic jack plates, so I will look into those as well. I was hoping I was not the only person needing a quick tilt function, but there must not be enough demand for anyone to make one. Maybe I will get one of those lever thingies they sell for lifting...

    Son's first carved decoys

Those both look better than anything I have ever come up with. Well done to him.

    Aftermarket power tilt

Does it raise quickly enough to suit you? The trim portion on the other boat I mentioned is painfully slow in the trim stage. Does it affect the motors ability to pop up if hitting an obstruction with the lower unit?

    Aftermarket power tilt

Bear with me, I am about to use a bunch of terms incorrectly, but here goes. On my wife's fishing boat our motor has power tilt and trim. It is two stages, one really slow while in the lower position, and I presume this is the trim portion, and the second stage, as it raises up goes really...
