    BBSB in use....

I just posted this in another thread: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23192335@N05/3237623136/ For some reason, I can't get Flickr images to appear - I am guessing that it is not a supported image source? Anyone know? Tom

    I shot my first canvasback!

With the closed season, we had a hard time keeping them out of the decoys this year. Even when we shot at bluebills it wasn't uncommon to see them get up, fly less than ten feet and sit back down. Take a look - click "view in high quality" for the best image...

    BBSB Help

Did you have an extension handle on the tiller? Try moving yourself forward to trim the boat out. I can submerge my after deck when I am leaning back to tilt the motor up or tie a stern anchor line onto the grab handle. Underway, I either kneel on the floor or sit on the combing near the oar...

    BBSB and dogs.

Sarge, The name is Tom and that is a Bob Brown cedar strip "Field and Stream" boat, which I believe, has its roots in the Zack Taylor school of boat design. There is another thread with pics of Bob's latest boat in all of it's naked cedar glory! haha! Tom

    BBSB bill perry design

I also have a Field and Stream boat and love it. Mine was built by Bob Brown in Sacketts Harbour, NY. My cousin also has one of Bob's boats - he is 6'2" and 291lbs and has no problems fitting in it or hunting out of it. Bob had this boat for sale this past summer. Hey Dave - can you...

    BBSB and dogs.

I finally found the pic that I was looking for...here is Beau in his hunting spot. He is steady (most of the time!) so I don't have a problem with getting run over. I usually lean forward and send him. Getting back in, I have him shake off on the after deck and then "kennel" to his spot...

    BBSB and dogs.

My golden is physically on the small size - about 55lbs. He fits nicely behind me, under the spray shield. If it is real cold and he is wet, I will put in the boat next to me, just to keep him a little warmer. Tom

Always had a thing for redheads....

Lee - after you see your chiropractor.....head over, we are shooting them just about every day. We are also seeing more blue bills than ever. We are shooting beautifully plumed greaters right now. Life is good! Tom

How do your earn your living?

I'll jump into this one! I spent some time in Uncle Sam's canoe club welding bit of metal together and decided to use some of that GI Bill money to go to college and chase women. I left college with a BS in Education and taught 6-12 technology education for five years. Went back to school and...

    Florida early Teal was slow...

Hitch, Thanks for the shuttle pic! I had tickets for the launch but can't make it so my sister is taking her two boys. It should be one heck of a show! We used to see the shuttle on the pad from the board walk at Playa Linda, but then again, you see all kinds of things there......;) Tom

Material for Attaching Spray Dodger to Hull

Jim, I am leaning towards something synthetic. My hardwoods guy suggested mahoganey, and I do have some, but I really don't want to steam it, only to have to do it over again in a few years. Where can I find a drive belt for a Woods Mower? I did get the 15 and have dry fit it, but...

Material for Attaching Spray Dodger to Hull

Yesterday as I was doing some pre-season work to my bbsb, I discovered that the piece wood that I used to attach the spray dodge to the hull has started to rot. This is a piece of ash that I steam bent and then epoxied to the hull. The bottom of the piece was soft and wet. The good news is...

Most unlikely place you have seen waterfowl....

When I worked in downtown Orlando, there was a wintering flock of blue bills that would spend their days on Lake Eola. The would come for popcorn just lark park mallards! I loved seeing them! Tom http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3118/2292722712_23e14cabe2_b.jpg

    Question for Florida hunters...

I don't think the dolphin would be as good as the bbq osprey! (again..just kidding!) Here is a link to a pic that I took of some blue bills that wintered on a lake in downtown Orlando: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23192335@N05/2292722096/sizes/l/ They would come to shore for popcorn! Tom

    Question for Florida hunters...

I was in your exact position two years ago. Matter of fact, we moved to Orlando on Sept 8th, 2006. Comming from the Great Lakes area, it was duck hunting culture shock, but it is survivable! I found a friend of a friend and got out into Tampa Bay for a few layout hunts. There are definitely...

    Pointe Mouillee Hotels??

I am planning on attending the show at Pointe Mouille this year with a couple of my hunting buds. In the past, I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Monroe. Is there anything closer? A website shows another hotel chain in Flat Rock. Any areas we should avoid? Tom
