    Trailer light advice needed

I keep my boat trailer out of the weather in the garage. I just started having problems with the wiring harness fuse (on the vehicle end) blowing out as soon as I hook up the trailer and switch the car lights on. I have pulled this trailer for two years without problems until now. Do you guys...

    Tipping your guide

Yes, its a good idea to be upfront about expectations. I have told guides before we went out that I did not want to hunt over robo ducks (I don't want to get into an online argument or discussion about spinners.....there are people who like them and others that don't). Some of the guides argued...

    Tipping your guide

Good hunting and fishing guides who put their clients first deserve a tip. Then there are the guides who pretty much use your trip and money so they can hunt and fish. Most of the guides I have hired have been good guys....but I remember some others who took the bow of the boat so they could get...

    Boat insurance question.

My boat and trailer is insured with Progressive. Make sure the contents are covered and also that roadside assistance and towing is part of the package.

    A "Profile" Suggestion

Carl, maybe I missed something, but why would anyone not want to put their home town on their profile?

It Seems Like Internet Forums are Dying

Jim G said "We would just go alone, sit with the dog and have coffee"........and that's how I prefer it. I get all the "social interaction" a guy can stand at my workplace

    Why I like sculling.....

Back in Georgia we usually found fox squirrels in open, piney woods while the gray squirrels preferred the hardwoods. The fox squirrels were big and came in several color phases, some of the almost black. We considered them sort of a trophy.

    GEs in the snow

We've been getting heavy snow all day. I have been hearing GEs flying overhead all afternoon while I was shoveling our driveway and sidewalks. Its a suburban neighborhood but we are near the Yellowstone River and this weather has got the birds moving around for sure.

Does anyone have advice on what decoy spread would work best?

Don't overthink it.....I use a small spread of mallards and Canadas (BTW, it is "Canada" geese, not "Canadian" geese) with a few GEs and bluebills off to one side. If hunting small water like a beaver pond I will use 4-5 mallards. Sometimes late in the season I will just put out coots and maybe...

    NDR--Eagles at the dump

When I lived in South Dakota I recall driving past a farm where some hog and cow carcasses were in a pile waiting for the rendering truck to come pick them up. On top of this small hill of decomposing, bloated hogs and cows were a couple of bald eagles enjoying the easy meal. Not nearly as hard...

It Seems Like Internet Forums are Dying

DHBP and a few traditional archery and kayak fishing forums are the only ones I look at these days. The discussions are still civil and respectful, even when we disagree. I also feel like I know many of you well, even if we have never met in person. Regarding Facebook....my teenage daughter says...

Temperature Maps tells the Migration Story

Rob, Katniss shoots a recurve.....I know because I have a teenage daughter who is well versed in all things related to "The Hunger Games" and we have read the books and seen the movies! I was in Fargo this weekend and did some flying around the area in a helicopter. There is still open water on...

    .22 ammo-NDR

Not sure why Sandy Hook would have anything to do with it.....there seems to be plenty of .17 rimfire ammo and every kind of center fire ammo available

    .22 ammo-NDR

I stopped by Cabela's this afternoon to pick up some .22 LR ammo. The guy in the gun department said "we don't have any". I asked why don't you have any and when will you get some? He said "I don't know". What the hell?
