Southbay duckboat who owns them ?

I like the added width which solves the motor hitting the sides of the well. It doesn't appear to make the boat tuff to hide, If I find a South Bay I would definitely do that mod. Joe

    Sunfish to sneakbox

Looks like you went full length with the Sunfish hull. When I did some research, most shortened the hull by 1-1/2 to 2 feet off the stern. Not sure that would make a difference in the bow rise. But it would move the CG further forward. I found that a tiller extension makes a big difference...

    Sunfish to sneakbox

Curt --- just wondering if you have a post season report for the Sunfish conversion performance? What did you power it with? I have a Sunfish hull that I was given and I am considering converting it to a layout boat. Joe

The 2 man is as close to a sinkbox as you can get and still be legal. I admire your design Joe

Great design. If I am not careful that could be my next year's project. Joe

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

Got the vinyl wrap on the side. This should help with the hide a bit.

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

We get into the Brant routinely. They only decoy when there are singles or a pair. They will fly over the spread. Limit for Brant is only 2 per day. Which we get most days. I breast them for the smoker. There have been no ducks for the past 2 weeks. They either just aren't here. Joe

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

The Whaler with the Avery blind is a too high when the tide is up. I believe it will work ok if I add grass.

    Cork Shelf Life

I have some Wiley that is 30 years old and works same as it did when new. Black cork that I have which was from a walk in reefer box. Probably built 70 years ago works just fine. I did get some old black cork decoys that crumbled when touched and it appears that they were left out in the...

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

The 3 young hunters are 14 and under. Plenty of room even with my fat ass in the stern. The Avery Quick Set should be good cover and I plan on adding some grass bundles to improve the hide. Will get some photos out on the bay. Joe

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

I considered an angled deck like a conventional duck skiff but I need the interior space to seat me 3 young hunters and me. This will really be a powered floating blind Joe

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

I am going to add a hatch to the front plywood deck for access to fire extinguisher/flares/strobe/anchor. In NY we have to wear life vests during winter months. I plan on being able to remove the front and rear deck for the off season. I will assemble the Avery blind this week. Want to get...

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

I only travel a mile or so inside east Merrick Bay. Don?t envy the rides you took win a whaler. It really needs 30 hp to be powered correctly. Joe

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

I have a 15 horsepower Evinrude that I can take off the Sneakbox. Runs good but it will be a under powered. It will have to do until I can find a 30 hp motor that would be a better choice. Joe

    Boston Whaler Duckboat

I received the Avery blind and this looks like should work just fine. The boys are picking out where they can sit inside. They also mentioned I add the Mr Heater that I use in the garage to warm us. I don't think that will happen. No open flames on small boats with cloth blinds and...
