    Hurricane Milton

That West to East movement on this storm is crazy to see. Praying it doesn't turn into a monster before landfall. What I'm seeing 2 hours North of me in NC is unfathomable. Prayers for all y'all in FL on this next one too.

    Hurricane Helene

Folks down here in SC are gathering supplies and scheduled to make runs to the mountains. Specific drop zones and churches are the targeted sites for distribution. How much manpower is up there helping with search and recovery? I've been off the grid leading up to the storm and been wide...

From Tightline to Tempest: Trout Fishing Prior to Hurricane Helene

Well said Larry. We have a local fella making helicopter drops of food, water and supplies to those trapped and cutoff by washed out bridges and roads. The video footage he's taken is surreal. This nightmare is unfathomable to those of us on the outside, even just 2 1/2 hours away. I...

    Hurricane Helene

We dodged the bullet at camp in S. La and got hit pretty hard inland in SC. Crazy to see the trees and lines down. I drove home from camp Friday night and got in around 6 Saturday a.m., been running chainsaw the last 3 days. NC and TN though, holy smokes they got annihilated. The stories...

Hunting rails from a nearly 100 year old boat......that would be incredible! One of my sons and I hunted marsh hens yesterday here in SC. We had a great time!

Blessing of the Fleet for the 2024 Hunting Season

Thank you Larry! The older I get, the mightier and more daunting the Mighty Mississippi river seems to run at the End of the World. Prayers for safety for all this duck season!

    Hurricane Francine Teal / Blackbellies

Lots of my Cajun brothers are in the midst of this storm. So far all is well for most of them. What is amazing is the teal movement during storms like this! One buddy in SWLA watched flock after flock of teal flying in from the South for 2 hours this afternoon! Another fella sent him this...

Frantic behavior in the middle of the night

We run a ceiling fan all the time too but the bathroom fan is louder and might help her, especially if it's after the book on tape ends. Couldn't hurt to try

Frantic behavior in the middle of the night

Just curious, have you tried playing white noise or leaving a bathroom fan on? A bath fan might be enough white noise to keep her calm through the night. We had to do that for my lab, more so to keep him from barking at everything (nothing) during the night.

    Grumman Sportboat Repaint/Power/Field Testing Update

Great looking refurb!!! I used a 2 inch pvc pipe and a rubber fernco with hose clamps to extend a 25 hp yamaha tiller. It worked like a champ. Our striper are schooling down here in SC, I'll be on them tomorrow! I used LED strip lights for bow lights, super bright!

    First hunt

Memories for a lifetime!!! I was 9 yrs old when I shot my first duck. Michigan "law" required youth to be 12 years old to legally hunt, my dad was born in 1918, he was old school. I had shot enough red squirrels at my aunts farm that he knew I was ready. Age is just a number anyway...

Waterfowl harvest and breeding population reports are now available

I don't blame you brother. I cringe telling folks I'm from SC when it comes to duck hunting, they don't always have a good reputation. I've lived in SC for nearly 40 years and we used to have ducks up until the late 90's when millions of grass carp were introduced into our lakes completely...

Waterfowl harvest and breeding population reports are now available

I'm asking myself the same thing! According to the USFWS data we went from 20,000 ('22) active duck hunters to 31,000 in 2023. 2022 total harvest was 150,000 ducks in 2022 and 298,600 in 2023! These numbers blew me away. According to harvest data, the number 1 duck harvested is our...

Waterfowl harvest and breeding population reports are now available

What is interesting to note is the increase in licensed hunter number increases in two States I hunt. SC jumped from 20,000 to 31,000 and LA from 35,700 to 55,300. I know we need more duck hunters but I wonder what triggered this increase in duck hunting.

Waterfowl harvest and breeding population reports are now available

What does this mean? "we made changes to our survey methodology and our online harvest survey application due to external security mandates and our ongoing efforts to enhance data collection processes." Are the survey's being conducted more accurate than previously? It would be awesome to...
